José Pereira
Rick Dangerous is the best candidate for the A8. http://rickdangerousflash.free.fr/ If you want, in mode E with PM Overlays. Or as a A8 / Amiga Version in Gr. 7 with all the cool Digis (that made the fun in the game special ) Emkay it's in GR.12 because it's using same way as Switchblade that you said it work that way !... Mode F , Mode 4.... it's just the A8 has the right colours for the game available. To have it running "well" , it's suitable to build Rick on a combination of background and players. Preshifting solves many speed problems, so the rare count of enemies should be no problem.
emkay
And, the game is build on 256 pixel width, which fits to 32 bytes DMA and leaves enough CPU cycles.

I've said it's the same as Switchblade and this is saying that the PMs are there for overlay/higher prior/mask sprites and that combined with PRIOR0 gives you more colours. José Pereira
Perhaps this is what we can get of Rick dangerous Level 1 on A8 (only left to get it's the Top Status Area colouring):
José Pereira
This is, probably, what we can get of Rick Dangerous Level 1 on A8 (only left to get it's the Top Status Area colouring): EDIT: That's only 106chars used here (including all the guys shifting). And 26colours on screen, by now Edited December 8, 2011 by José Pereira
José Pereira
The walking Bidon it's also possible (and goes behind the Green and Pink gfxs, like all enemy and rick's sprites): Edited December 8, 2011 by José Pereira
