Goldfish
I can't get past the first stage, which is really annoying because I find the Virtual mode to be fairly unplayable due to the inability to gauge distance. I have an M model Jag (so obviously not just a K model issue), and I've seen a few people have had the same problem, but there doesn't seem to be any real conclusion. Is it the game? Is it the Jag? Is there anything I can do to bypass it? Honestly annoying. May just have to go ahead and buy the PS1 enhanced version. Jag_Slave
I've never had any trouble with it.
Austin
I have not experienced this myself either.
CrazyChris
If i remember right, this game will actually not work, with certain model Jaguars. Can anyone confirm this? Can you give us the serial number off the bottom of your Jaguar? Thanks, Chris
Goldfish
Serial is M255007421 I've tried a few more times and it still doesn't work. At least my other Jag games work just fine. Edited December 28, 2011 by Goldfish
Punisher5.0
Mine did this when I first got it. For the last High Score Club I popped it in not expecting it to work but I think I got to the third of forth level and it didn't freeze at all. This was using the same Jaguar.
CrazyChris
Found the same topic from 2008: http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/123947-missile-command-3d-problems/
Austin
Interesting, it looks like others have had issues with it in the past.
Goldfish
Yeah, I searched the forums but didn't want to gravedig one of those topics. I don't know. It's disappointing as that's the mode I wanted to play most. Oh well.
CrazyChris
Is it possible that the program is looking for the analog controller input, but on later Jaguar's this was removed.
skip
Many moons ago I had an online chat/interview with the developer of the game. The producer at Atari was almost ready to scrap the virtual mode in favour of this (!!!). From what I remember it was very hastily put together and the amount of testing done was probably minimal. From my hazy recollection it's often K models that have issues, but there's something nagging in my head about others with M models who've also had problems, but I can't be 100% sure. That's the problem about returning to Jag stuff after 10 odd years FWIW, it works fine on both my Jags, but I think they're both Ms.
Zaxxon79
I have this same problem. I have a new old stock jaguar console and a new copy of missile command 3d. The game freezes ant the end of stage 1 every time in 3d mode. I also tried a second missile command 3d cartridge and the same thing happened. Atlantis
Maybe the old tech is starting to die on us, only now a first step in a mass death of consoles and carts alike. Nothing lasts forever, in the same form… … Emulation is the answer I guess, to your problem.

wilfrido
Its a glitch with the jaguar console. Some say that its specific to a certain model of jaguar k or m but for me it happens on one of my 2 jaguars and they are both model k. Very frustrating because it will only run on my new boxed console which I hate to have to take out just to play one game.
+Biff Burgertime
Try unplugging then plugging back in your Atari Jaguar VR headset. 1
Zaxxon79
I also tested this with the jaguar game drive. It still freezes the same way. It must be a bug in the code somewhere.
