Synthpopalooza
I was just watching the video and just thought of an improvement on the game: When you are invincible, let the invincibility hang around for 2 seconds after the music changes back ... this is how Super Mario Bros does it ... that way you get a bit of a warning before you are in danger again. Shannon
Wow! That's my first in depth look at the gameplay as well, I've mostly just seen screenshots so far, and I have to say it looks fantastic Bob, congrats. The sound effect played when you kill a character reminds me an awful lot of the one made when jumping over a barrel in Donkey Kong.
Trebor
The sound effect played when you kill a character reminds me an awful lot of the one made when jumping over a barrel in Donkey Kong. DAMN YOU, Shannon. You're right...and now I can't watch the video without picturing a jumping Mario every time an enemy dies...LOL. It's like when the first jump sound effect was added, it sounded like 2600 'Adventures Of Tron' jumping. Maybe it can be tweaked a little (?)
PacManPlus
Ok... now I *have* to change it
bfollett
I was watching the Music preview video posted earlier and at about 42 seconds there's a Zombie like creature that appears to take multiple hits to kill. It looks like many of the shots are going through the zombie rather than registering as hits. Is this a bug or by design? Bob
PacManPlus
By design. The Zombie only registers head shots for killing (like the movies) It takes 4 head shots to kill the zombie. Bob
KevinMos3
Ok... now I *have* to change it That's kinda funny. First, I made you think of Woody Woodpecker with the TIA version... now they make you think of Donkey Kong. We're gonna have to shut up! desiv
Wow... I agree with the others.. That music is perfect, and adds a lot to an already great game!!!! desiv
LidLikesIntellivision
Wow . That is fantastic! I gave 3 "Like This" to the post! Unfortunately the second one, due to a bug in the forum was an "Unlike". Who would unlike a PacmanPlus post?
Shannon
FWIW the music is fantastic. Well that and the gameplay looks great!
Stun Runner 87
The music goes perfect with the game. And certainly enhances the experience playing it. I can't wait for this to hit the store. I want to buy 10000 copys.
Atarifever
Who would unlike a PacmanPlus post? If he ever retires again I might.
PacManPlus
Hey! I found the very first version that I started working on a year and a half ago, before I knew what direction I was going to take. Just wanted to share it here, there are no enemies and the level is dull (i.e. nothing on it), but I started with an isometric view that I quickly got away from. Stun Runner 87
PacmanPlus is a living legend. The man has single handledly made about 25% of the available atari 7800 library. If it wasn't for people like him, everyones 7800 would still be boxed in the basement. Once again, great great job on this one. A lot of love was put into this game. Thanks Pacmanplus for coming out of retirement. Don't know what we would do without you. Keep up the good work. You never fail to impress. AtariNerd
Zounds, it has Sounds! Great work Bob and to everyone else who chipped in; this is shaping up to be an excellent play.
Schmutzpuppe
Sound great! There still isn't an (official) emulator working with xm/xboard Pokey right?

PacManPlus
Thanks, guys Stun Runner 87 / Walter you are too kind Schmutzpuppe, you are correct - although currently the game is using the standard $4000 for Pokey.
keitaro
Finally you made it! Even without music is a great game but with this feature will be a Must Have one. I hope to see it completed soon. Great work!
PacManPlus
Thank you! It's coming along nicely - there are two levels of music almost done... Synthpopalooza is doing a *wonderful* job! Also, interesting to note, this is the first time where I'm not doing the music to one of my own games. Bob
Synthpopalooza
It's been a lot of fun. Not to mention about 25 years since I even hacked together any POKEY music, so a lot to re-learn.
Stun Runner 87
Hi guys, I'm just bumping this thread back to the top of the forum page where this one belongs..................carry on............carry on......
PacManPlus
Levels 1, 2, and 3 all have music. The Invincible tune also has music, as does the death sequence and the 'End Game'. The 'End Level' also has music, but that's been there all along. What's left: Level 4, 5, and 6 (the hidden level) music. Boss Fight Music Defeat Boss Tune Title screem music. I have to say again, Synthpopalooza is doing excellent work with his ideas and music coding. I am glad he wanted to be a part of this. Thanks, Bob
Synthpopalooza
Some thoughts for level 6 (hidden level) (without the horrible singing of course) ... from the Carmen opera Also from Carmen, the bit I was thinking of starts at 2:00 Ravel's Bolero The idea is, I was thinking something middle eastern or Spanish sounding, since there's a lot of desert in this level.
