+thegoldenband
Nope, nope, and nope! Here's a fourth clue: 4) Some have claimed this was the first videogame (or console game, action game, etc.) to feature these now-ubiquitous enemies, or at least to name them as such. (Certainly, it's one of the earliest.)

+thegoldenband
Hmmm, nope. I think we need a fifth clue: 5) That's one heck of a mustache, mister! Too bad we can't see it at that resolution (or much else about you, really).
Chuck D. Head
Mario Bros? Obviously the mustache; co-op mode could give you opportunity to be a jerk, i dont know, starting to grasp at straws.

moycon
I had considered Mario Brothers yesterday, mainly based on the clue : "feature these now-ubiquitous enemies", but I didn't see how the other clues tied in I guess.
Master Phruby
Damn. I was thinking Donkey Kong but Mario Brothers works.
Schizophretard
But you can see the mustache and the rest of Mario clearly. I don't see how the other clues fit.

Yeah, I really thought this referred to bosses, which fit Kung Fu Master as well as the "control" bit, which was emphasized in the manual. I dont really feel too good about Mario Bros. Chuck D. Head
I was thinking bosses too. well the only others I came up with having bosses were Adventure, Phoenix and Vanguard (the Gond was pathetic excuse for a boss, but they kind of talked it up in the manual, IIRC)
moycon
For the ubiquitous enemies I was thinking Koopas. Although looking at the manual for Mario Brothers, I see that's not what they were called then. They were Shellcreepers.
Schizophretard
The clue says it is one of the first to name this kind of enemy. So, I'm thinking it is a common enemy today but was named in this game.
+thegoldenband
Not Mario Bros. or any of the guesses so far. Note that clue #4 is somewhat speculative, and based on someone else's claim. In fact I'm quite sure that an earlier, turn-based computer game used this enemy, but I'm unaware of an earlier use of this enemy by name in a console or arcade game. Clue #2 is actually a big hint -- it's not just a generic description of a game with questionable control. (Though this game does have questionable controls.) +Nathan Strum
Pac Man? I'd wondered about that because of clue 1 and 4 (since I'd never heard of the Pac-Man enemies referred to as "ghosts" until the 2600 version), but nothing else fits. A recap, since this is spanning two pages now: 1) Blue and floaty? I thought they were white and hungry. 2) Control can make or break a game...if you know what I mean. 3) Under the right circumstances, this game can reveal if you're a jerk. 4) Some have claimed this was the first videogame (or console game, action game, etc.) to feature these now-ubiquitous enemies, or at least to name them as such. (Certainly, it's one of the earliest.) 5) That's one heck of a mustache, mister! Too bad we can't see it at that resolution (or much else about you, really). roadrunner
I was gonna go with Tapper. The bartender has a mustache.
CorTat-G
I think Roadrunner has it. clue 2 - Make or break - I'd say it means breaking the glass if dropped clue 3 - a SODA Jerk! That's all I got.
roadrunner
Cool, if it's my turn i'll have to think of something. I'll try to make this one a bit more difficult than my last one. lol But not too difficult. Edited August 14, 2012 by roadrunner
Schizophretard
I think Roadrunner has it. clue 2 - Make or break - I'd say it means breaking the glass if dropped clue 3 - a SODA Jerk! That's all I got. But number 3 says,"Under the right circumstances". Through the whole game you're a soda jerk. There are no enemies in the game and the other clues seem off. +thegoldenband
Nope, not Tapper or Pac-Man. Let's see...here's another way to phrase clue #1: 1) Blue and floaty? Béla told me they were white and hungry. (Or maybe Rob told me, I don't remember.)
