is Star Castle for Vectrex rare?

Okay another odd question. Why does the overlay have a red ring on it? I guess because the original coin op did? As evidenced by the footage below nothing ever populates in the red ring, only the yellow center. So why is there a red ring?

Obviously it was taken from an emulator but that's exactly my point. Even on a perfect recreation of the screen with its overlay, there's nothing occupying the red area at all. Or maybe later in the game something does? I know in the coin op machine the outer rings of the central castle do touch the red region. But on Vectrex it seems like they never do.

 

The reason I am asking is because I ordered a Star Castle overlay remake from this website and as awesome as it looks I was at first worried the red area was made too large since nothing was ever in there. But now from the emulator footage it appears that Vectrex Star Castle never has anything in the red.

 

Am I wrong?

the red ring is there to show where the center castle is i guess. it was in the original game
