+therealbountybob
Wow 70 games last year, thanks to everyone who created something to support the Atari 8-bit Here's my vote: 1st Amaurote+ Superb work making this excellent game much more playable, plus the awesome intro. Took me a while to work out what to do again (pressing Option for the in-game menu helped!!!) 2nd Callisto - great shooter, but way too short! 3rd Pac-Man Arcade version - nice 4th Ridiculous Reality - after the initial enjoyment I found the game frustrating after a while when it looked like sections should like up and they didn't - I kept going round in circles 5th HAR 'em - not bad 6th Sea Quest - classic gaming action, but let down by too many extra men (programmers take note - stop dishing them out after a certain point (100,000 or 1m points) - games like this where you get one every 10,000 become too easy (185,790 on my 2nd go)... 7th Asteroids Emulator - cool 8th Line Runner - neat but a bit hard - would also make a nice 2 or 4 player head to head game 9th Plan B - I missed this one but it seems fun (though you need keyboard in front of you) I must look for the instructions... 10th Rocket Rescue - Fun game if a little tricky on that 3rd stage. Honorable Mentions to: Pong Jaw Breaker - nice game similar to something else we have? how is that scoring done?! Amazin 4K - after years of nagging my friend created her 1st game for the Atari - nice game for children. Slo Quiz 4K - learning is fun! Tedecijace Starcie - please add some sound effects, hope there is more to come Snakes of Atari Island - fun could be improved 1 player is way too easy, 2 player let down as when 1 player is out the other just continues without any pressure and only 1 life. Calamanis - didn't try as need an ATR that works with a 1050 drive Gówno spadajace w dól - fun Hopp2012 - make it re-start pressing fire already! - another reminder to programmers to please make games startable by keyboard and joystick - some players have their Atari on a desk in front of them, others have them under the TV in the corner of the room and getting up every go to press a key is a pain itb. Mazezam - nice idea but I found some levels frustratingly hard Hopefully my comments are constructive, certainly a lot better games than Keep on Koastin
+therealbountybob
One game I couldn't figure out was Beidny Pies - the game looks good; would be nice if someone could do an English version Still time to vote here folks - there are nearly 100 posts on atarionline.pl - even if you didn't play many of the games just list for a few that you enjoyed This competition provides a nice way of identifying the better games from recent years. +Adam+
One game I couldn't figure out was Beidny Pies The goal of "Biedny pies Antoni" is to remember the path shown first and then go through the field following this path to the entrance, collecting items (screws).

Creature XL
I assume all voters kept in mind that (sorryly) the ABBUC version of "HAR'em" should be regarded, not the one from February 2013. I am curious to know, if the "February 2013" is still seen as inferior to "Calisto".
+therealbountybob
I assume all voters kept in mind that (sorryly) the ABBUC version of "HAR'em" should be regarded, not the one from February 2013. I am curious to know, if the "February 2013" is still seen as inferior to "Calisto". I had the same issue with Gwobby Strikes Back! which was released to the abbuc s/w contest in 2010 but the final and much improved v1.2 was released in 2011. The Kaz Kompo would be improved if it included games again when they are more than bug fix release. The same applies to reviews/play tests in the abbuc magazine. Now Har'em vs Callisto, it's a close call, but I still think Callisto! Callisto's biggest weakness is the game is too short (4 levels) and can be completed fairly easily once you learn the screens. On the plus side it is extremely well polished and has superb controls. HAR'em's plus is the extra round of the 2 levels though extremely hard make the game a more lasting challenge. The crazy amount of firing is a big plus too Thanks for running the contest guys and thanks again to all who released something for the A8 in 2012. If anyone wants to get started on programming there are plenty of games to take a look at e.g. my friends "Amazin" 4K BASIC game for children is simple to follow; or post something on the programming forum here on atariage and people will help you out
