Did Atari 2600 carts ever come sealed?

I purchased the Texas chainsaw massacre for the Atari complete and when I opened it the cart was in a shrink wrap and the previous owner told me he got it like that, I want to play it on the old Atari but I don't want to open it if it was sealed all along,

 

 

Sooo were Atari 2600 carts ever sealed when you took it out of the box or in this case did the original owner just shrink wrap it just to keep it from getting damaged. Let me know thanks

One of the owners in the chain must have decided to shrink-wrap the cart, it's certainly not original.

Cartridges never were shrinkwrapped, but boxes yes.

 

Unfortunately I've never been able to resist the temptation of opening a sealed box
