SegaShooters
Using MAME32b-036 emulator has served well for many years (under Windows XP). In recent months, one by one, the ROM files are becoming unusable (and downloading a new copy of the ROM doesn't help). Would anyone know why and have a solution to resolving this? Thanks. You need versions of the roms that are correct for MAME32b-036. Majority of Mame roms have changed multiple times since 036 was released in 1999. Current downloads will likely fail audit. regarding becoming unusable one by one seems as if your problem is further reaching than a MAME issue Edited July 4, 2013 by JL

+nanochess
You could have a virus or simply your hard disk is about to fail.
OldSchoolRetroGamer
You could have a virus or simply your hard disk is about to fail. Waaay over thinking there bud, as has been suggested much more likely simply mismatched roms with the version of MAME being used as that is exactly the result. Get a Romset version that is matched to the MAME version, audit roms and all should be well. Not everything is due to a "Virus", go with the simple or obvious (well for mame users anyway) first. I downloaded Mame32v103b from Mame 32 downloads (http://www.mame32-roms.chessman21.com/) and it works great - except Berzerk doesn't work(?). For the first time I played Buck Rogers (and downloaded the sample for it too) and have mixed opinions about it. Tranferred the hiscoredat file and just need to play with the emulator settings a little. Thanks guys.
