The Official NEO-GEO Thread!

Recommended Posts

I am shocked it's nearly identical to Metal Slug, I hope they have consulted with lawyers about the similarities.

If NEO XYX isn't going to be reprinted in the future, Kraut Busters is going in that same direction as well!

Even if I supported NGDEVTEAM in the past, this is not what I expected to be when it comes to high standards from them! However, everything is still in preliminary stages. So they have time to work on it!

I'm also surprised how they would use the name "kraut". I know many in the German community don't like to be called that! Its a derogatory term for a German. With the name "Kraut Busters", I'm shocked that they would allow this. Especially its a German company.

Hi guys,

Here's the latest from NGDEVTEAM on their Facebook account.

NG Dev Team

1 hr ·

Kraut Buster MVS is setting by far a new sales record for us. It already sold 50% of the Limited Edition in 12h. Normally this takes 3 month.
Btw. the floaty jump is getting fixed as we speak, the same goes for the soldier screams. Our engine is very good and fixes are easy to make.

Hi guys,

Back again continuing on with the controversial concerns with NGDEVTEAM's new title, "Kraut Busters". A YouTube and fellow Neo-Geo player "Neo Rambler" expresses his thoughts and feelings regarding what this developing title has to offer to Neo-Geo gamers and the community! Nicely done I must say!

I would rather get a Project Y port than this poor MS rip off

The good news is that NGDEVTEAM said that this was not the Ikari style game that they were working on. If this was their pet project of it. the neo-geo community would've been outraged!

Call me weird, but I'm a lot less interested in kraut buster than:

  • demon front with an igs pgm board
  • dolphin blue and an atomiswave board
  • heck, finishing my metal slug collection with ms5

To me it looks a lot more like a late 90's flash game than any previous ngdevteam release. But then, razion would be a pretty hard act to follow.

I'm guessing I could get all three of the above for about the same price as an ngdevteam release--I don't think cheap folks like me are really in their target market, though.

Good point. Kraut Buster is a game that felt like its more for the mobile devices than the Neo. Other titles seem better to pick up and cheaper!

Hi guys,

Tonight, I'm playing "Zed Blade" (Operation Ragnarok) for the MVS.

A Neo-Geo home version was announced and completed, but never released.

Anthony...

This game, along with Fight Fever and Gururin in 1994 was when SNK start skipping AES releases, realizing the high cost of making AES games and they were concerned that those games may not sell well, if at all. I like the music in Zed Blade but graphic wise there are some flaws in the background setting.

So true Vince. Too bad that they were not released for the AES. Would be nice in our collections!

That game could be nice on Neo Geo:

I have to admit, this is a good looking game that WaterMelon is doing. I wonder if they have any interest on developing this new project over to the Neo-Geo!

Hi guys,

This morning, I'm playing "Wrestling Madness" for the NGPC. As a wrestling enthusiast, I like this game. Despite its limitations, I feel its a fun game to play. The music is good and the controls are a little choppy (but playable), and a good selection move moves to execute on your opponents. One of my favorite NBPC titles.

Hi guys,

Hmmmmm. It seems that NGDEVTEAM removed their first trailer to Kraut Busters for some odd reason. Well, the good news is they do listen to criticism and the pessimistic remarks from the Neo-Geo community. Hopefully the second trailer will be much more convincing to the viewers/gamers!

I think they realized that they showed off the game too early. It was so obviously unfinished in that video. If they needed to announce the game because they needed the money from pre-orders, they should have just shown still shots.

It seems like a lot of people are excited about this Ikari-style game that they keep talking about. I already have both Shock Troopers and Ninja Commando, so I'm not exaclty champing at the bit to get my hands on that game, either.

The good news is that NGDev listens to those in the Neo-Geo community. Unfortunately, the video didn't turn to their benefit on showing this game. I'm sure the new trailer will makeup for the uproar that the first trailer caused by them.

You're right Chris. I'm also interested on their new Ikari style title and hopefully the developers will do something a little more creative. If their pet project turns out to be a success. I'll be glad to see it workout for them.

Me and member VGC1612" have expresed interest on WaterMelon's developing title "Project Y" I've PM them and 108 Stars to see if they would be doing any future releases for the Neo-Geo platform. Their titles do look worthy enough to be on the NG. retroillucid (known for his Colecovision games) is interested on doing a game.on the Neo!

Hi guys,

Member "MCF 76" received a reply from Timm Hellwig from NGDEVTEAM regarding Kraut Busters. This is what they said.

QUOTE:

"We are not completely retooling the game. The game is in making for 2 years now (mostly graphics, coding just began a few month ago).
We have changed the jumping physics and will adapt most graphics to look more like expected color wise/reducing comic outlines.

We will also add more crazy stuff like robots/mutants/super natural enemies. More interesting weapons/fights etc. The music gets changed too. The vision of a WW2 game that takes place in Europe 193x will stay mostly intact though. We can't make it suddenly a complete SCIFI/fantasy game.

Regarding the MVS LE sales record that's true. It just means it's selling faster then past games. But as this game cost a lot more to make than last games that's not enough. Thus we need to adapt for future games.

EU forums people see it a lot more positive. Not sure if the style is too EURO or something for you guys? The project is programming/design wise still rather early so we can still incorporate a lot of *constructive* feedback.

We are thinking about creating from now on rather a series of small videos, instead of a big trailer. It's better feedback wise.

NGbiggrin.gifEV Team"

Hi guys,

Today marks the 1st year anniversary of "The Official NEO-GEO Thread" on Atariage.com!

Its been an amazing year in which we were able to bring members together and having discussions regarding anything related to the Neo-Geo and SNK/Playmore. I would like to take the opportunity to thank Albert, the moderators, the members and guest that come by, reply, and look at the postings that are available to view for the general public relating to the Neo-Geo and its platforms. Like anything that's considered new, the thread had concerns and uncertainties involving how will it work and benefit others. After careful planning and good concepts. We were able to make this thread work and help benefit long time and new Neo-Geo players.

Before the thread became available, Atariage had little discussions that involved the Neo-Geo. But being a Neo-Geo player, owner, and enthusiast.....I felt it was time to introduce something new and fresh for the community here on the site. So far, we have 950 replies, and 24,400+ views and counting! A nice accomplishment so far in my opinion.

As usual, "The Official NEO-GEO Thread" is open to all. If you have any inquiries, or you're a gamer, reviewer, programmer, troubleshooter, developer, publisher, or anything else that you would like to contribute relating to the Neo-Geo or SNK/P, please feel free to PM me, or post here. You're welcome to do so.

Thank you all for the support and thank you for supporting "The Official NEO-GEO Thread" on Atariage.com.
