I have to say Steve, this really caught my interest and attention. If you didn't mention that Japanese sellers don't sell off Ebay to buyers in Japan, I would've never known. I have to do more research regarding this. Now I'm curious. :ponder:

Maybe it's because they worry about buyers in Japan reselling them to profit over the items for a higher amount to take advantage?

I agree bro. Is just that, I would like to see something brand new from SNK from the ground up. I really do enjoy all the classics from them, but I would really want to see something different that would be groundbreaking.

They're great games, but good god who is paying that much for these? I fully appreciate collectors wanting to own these, but that is just grossly prohibitive in value. To me at least.

That logo along with the "Who is the best player?" line hints more at netplay than streaming.

...all were poorly-received from purists and enthusiasts, and it seems SNK took notice back when they tried to block further production of the Neo Geo X. When the NG Mini was also poorly-received it got me thinking what it would take to make those same people happy beyond "clicky stick." Of course, we got our "clicky stick" back with the NG ASP and MVS-X but it still isn't enough for enthusiasts or else they would've been fine with the NG X.

I figured an proper FPGA Neo Geo console with HDMI and an eShop would just about do it. It could have nearly perfect classic games on the FPGA along with new games... and I don't just mean NGDev games available on the eShop. Think, an embedded ARM SoC as powerful as an iPad or whatever.

No, I don't think it's likely but my ears certainly perked up when I heard them specifically say that this console was made to "bridge the needs" between fans and enthusiasts. Could this be an FPGA Neo Geo with an eShop *AND* netplay? I'm listening.

That might actually be a "bargain" in the sense that I'm pretty sure that Metal Slug costs over $10000 itself, plus the rest costing $1000~$5000 each, although I forget the actual prices.

The problem with the things they have done so far is that they are too expensive for what they are: poor-quality emulation boxes with limited game selections unless you REALLY REALLY LOVE FIGHTING GAMES for whatever reason.

Neo Geo X... lol. Neo Geo Mini has terrible video quality, but even though it's missing a few titles, I'd say it has a nice list of games and the best game selection of all of them, especially the Christmas variant. ASP supposedly has quite good emulation, but it's got a limited selection, most of them being fighting games. MVSX also has good emulation and is fighting games only, but it's also crazy expensive for those who aren't into the bartop arcade stuff and there are those who just don't have anywhere to put it due to its size.

I highly doubt there will be an official FPGA Neo Geo. If there was, and especially if you can buy games for it, I'd insta-preorder it provided it's not too expensive for me. It will probably be another bargain-bin emulator with online, sadly, although I would love for them to prove me wrong and I hope they do.
