Mr SQL
Enjoyed hearing about the Tandy Assembly and CoCofest. Interesting article below the show notes about bitwise operators in BASIC not operating the same across different versions Microsoft BASIC. PEMDAS does not include an order for bitwise, I think they should happen first. Gary Kitchen writing about the CES was interesting as well, miss those "Jurassic times" with classic phone booths before cellphones!

Here what it does for me. When I hover over the first link (in orange below) the link url is shown at the bottom. It resolves to l.facebook.com. If I [intentional-stupidly] click on the link it takes me to some random facebook login page. That's where I stopped. All 3 of those Episode 81 links do it. The previous episodes don't seem to do it. They resolve to cococrew.org. With all the recent games website hacking, maybe an admin should check this out?@Albert ?
cwilkson
PS. I'm looking from work. It might think I'm sitting in Germany because of server location? I don't know. But I'm in Detroit.
Albert
All three of the links in the Episode 81 post work for me, none of them end up on Facebook. I'm not sure why these links are going to Facebook at all, though, why not just use the direct links? ..Al
Turbo-Torch
I clicked on one from my company phone yesterday and it took me to a Facebook page that reads "You are going to a link outside of Facebook" and then gives me a choice to Go Back or Follow Link. It also shows a lengthy link containing cococrew.org. Clicking on Follow the Link worked. Company phone was using data in another town and has never been used for Facebook. Tried it again on my Windows laptop at home (wifi, vpn off) and it does the same thing. I won't click Follow the Link on my Windows PC as redirects are sketchy as hell...and I probably shouldn't have done it on my phone either. And those urls above do start off with l.facebook.com followed by the longest list of characters I've ever seen in a url. Might just be a referral thing, but still sketchy. I'm not sure why these links are going to Facebook at all, though, why not just use the direct links? ..Al The links here are a cut-n-paste from an original announcement post on Facebook -- not really "intentional", just convenient (given that the pasted version is already a URL in the editor, not extra clicks involved). I don't know why Facebook munges the links in the cut-n-paste operation -- probably for tracking usage and whatnot. But again, if you are paranoid about Facebook then just use the text in the link as the URL itself. I'll try to remember to make the manual modifications in the future... cwilkson
So....this just boils down to "I copied a link from Facebook and Facebook kindly modified it for me"? If so, it's yet another example of Facebook being sketchy as hell. I wouldn't say I'm paranoid about Facebook, but...I'm paranoid about Facebook. And this is a great example of why. ? @linville did you do anything different than normal this last time? I wrote "resolves" in post #87, which is probably not the correct term. To be clear, the episode 81 links behave exactly as @Turbo-Torch said in post #90 with the super long url and a redirect splash page (which I didn't click through). This is the first time I've seen it happen from this thread. I didn't go back and check them all, but for example episode 80 links all go directly to cococrew.org as shown below. (notice the "normal" hovering url at the bottom of the image).
