Maybe he can build a time machine and get rich men throughout history to stop collecting trophy wives and find a way to convince all of those writers and artists from using the damsel in distress or persecuted maiden theme in literature and art. If he could wave his magic wienie at them and turn them all gay, then video games wouldn't have been contaminated with all of that woman-obsessed manly manliness. Male gamers should be like the closeted gay best friend that we've seen in popular movies over the years.
Hyper_Eye
I'm confused as to how respecting women requires one to be gay. I don't think realistic representations of society should be removed from gaming to appease offended groups. If we did that there would be no shooters or any violence in video games whatsoever. That would have been established in the 90's. Having said that I think there are a lot of unrealistic presentations of women in video games. The level of controversy surrounding this is baffling. You can't have a reasonable conversation about things like this in the gaming community. Of course your presentation of this issue exemplifies that fact. The implication that these journalists want to turn gamers gay is ridiculous. I'm a married man. I'm not gay and my interest is piqued by the female form. That doesn't mean I want to play out or watch degrading depictions of women when I play video games.

I was bored with "rescue the damsel" games back in the 1980s, but you don't have to be a masturbating freak with nipple clamps and a scrotum piercing if you want to rescue a princess here or there. Reaperman
Yeah... but--and hear me out now--if we *did* all turn gay, this feminism in gaming drama blows over forever and we can get back to hitting buttons again. +Random Terrain
There are so many modern games that are filled with disgusting stuff. Every other game seems to be about demons and making the player walk through a blood and poo soaked landscape where your mission is to do something horrible. There is a good chance that 80 percent of modern game designers are Satan worshiping illegal drug taking porn addicts.
Hyper_Eye
That's a real problem considering the 50% demon population. Their exploitive representation in video games is quite offensive to them and to those that respect demons.

Jess Ragan
It's been my experience that gamers are permanently stuck in Beavis and Butthead mode, and have been that way since the mid 1990s, when the Playstation was released. Game companies have been playing to their insecurities, telling them that Nintendo is too "kiddie" and that they should demand more explicit content. More boobs! More violence! More swearing! More guts! And it's all presented without any deeper context. Narratively, video games have been empty calories for at least two decades, if not longer. They appeal to the base instincts of gamers without challenging them intellectually. And when people suggest that hey, maybe video games should be a little more cerebral and a little less testosterone-soaked, gamers feel threatened and flip the fuck out, acting as though their very culture is in danger. It sure is... in danger of remaining puerile and pandering because you won't let them be anything else.
Gamemoose
Sure that's what this is all about. On another subject... can you tell me what this scene adds to the newly released MGSV? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3qvJx0p2eu4 I know zilch about MGSV. At first it looked like it was all T & A fantasy stuff- gal jumps out helicopter, lands with hardly any effort as if she's light as a feather and starts getting all wet. In the beginning my first question was "whhhhhyyyyyyy?" but when she disappeared- I thought Snake was hallucinating until the girl reappeared to grab her boots. Then I started thinking about it- she relishes the feel of the rain. The moves weren't sexual- it was like she was joyfully dancing and when she laid back and the screen turned a bit white, it was like she was reminiscing on something positive. Perhaps thinking of a time when she didn't have that power....a time of normalcy and peace. When Snake appeared she played. Not in a "playful I want you"... but actual play. Snake joined in. Their embrace kindled perhaps a desire but the handing off of the boots meant they both had to return to the grim reality of conflict. That's just what I interpret. It's easy to knee jerk until you think about it without diving into the gutter either the desiring way or in repulsion. Tech wise-was that all in real time and not a video? If the former...dang that is some impressive animation.

At first it looked like it was all T & A fantasy stuff- gal jumps out helicopter, lands with hardly any effort as if she's light as a feather and starts getting all wet. That's one of her amazing assassin abilities. In the beginning my first question was "whhhhhyyyyyyy?" but when she disappeared- I thought Snake was hallucinating until the girl reappeared to grab her boots. Also assassin abilities. Her introduction helps: Then I started thinking about it- she relishes the feel of the rain. The moves weren't sexual- it was like she was joyfully dancing and when she laid back and the screen turned a bit white, it was like she was reminiscing on something positive. It's easy to knee jerk until you think about it without diving into the gutter either the desiring way or in repulsion. I understand that thin reasoning for the scene. I've also seen some movies where it's love at first sight when the pizza guy or water heater repairman arrives... for both the helpless tenant and her friend. Tech wise-was that all in real time and not a video? If the former...dang that is some impressive animation. I don't think it is impressive at all. More than once her breasts act all Stretch Armstrong and creep me out. You didn't notice? Look around the part where she kicks water up at him with her feet. You will never be able to unsee it. Look around the part where she kicks water up at him with her feet. You will never be able to unsee it. Honestly, I wasn't watching her breasts. Yes I saw them move but the action was quick so I didn't analyze. I'll watch her intro later. As I said, I don't know a thing about MGSV so I took the video just as it was and took context from that. Could I have looked at it as sexual? Sure, but I try not to think that way. Also I didn't get that vibe when I watched the clip to completion. Could she have worn a skin tight suit instead? Sure, but then someone will look at THAT as sexually suggestive as well.
Hyper_Eye
Anyone that thinks that character is not sexually suggestive is deluding themselves. That character is hand crafted for teenage males. We're in the real world. We can admit these simple truths. Come on. They know their demographic. I didn't have to stare right at her breasts to notice the thing becoming 3 feet long more than once. *shudder* Edited September 4, 2015 by Hyper_Eye
+Random Terrain
Honestly, I wasn't watching her breasts. I never look at a woman's body. I only look deep into her soul. All I care about are her feelings. I just want to listen to her and not try to fix things. Did she even have breasts?
Reaperman
I dunno, maybe it's just me, but I don't understand why snake didn't just kill her. I wanted to. Her and her lousy ps2-era water effects. Does anybody even play metal gear games these days? 20 hours worth of sneaking around in a cardboard box just to hear a 30 minute monologue instead of getting to fight the nuclear powered robot tank. Sorry if I ruined the plot for anybody. Also I didn't get that vibe when I watched the clip to completion. cimerians
We each have our own way of looking at the world. Those are called breasts. Sorry if I ruined the plot for anybody. MGS:5 is extremely different when it comes to how they handle the story. The cutscenes are more streamlined and most exposition is handled through tapes that you can listen to whenever you want. And yeah you're going to most likely fight a nuclear capable mech, a Metal Gear, that is what the game is called afterall. The fourth game changed it up a but which was a great surprise a did a lot of fan service. Most of the games had a very sexualized female character, which at times were over the top to the point it was stupid. I understand why Quiet doesn't wear too much clothing, they could have handled it better, though I got over it quickly and have been enjoying the game. What I can't get over is just how huge the game is and the freedom you have.
Draikar
At 3:32 it looks like the dog / wolf is piloting the plane. Looks like most of the game is movie cutscenes but I never played the game so I don't know ?
