sn8k
Currently speaking with Chuck Peavey. Got to speaking of the game and a more complete version was in existence. He may or may not have it. I also raised the question of if we were able to secure proper resources for him funds and necessary equipment that may lead to him completing the game. This would include better mechanics. New levels maybe and not having to level skip. He is asking if the source is available? I was thinking since the cart is a dev cart that it might just already be one in itself. I dont know about these things. He has old disks he would like to have someone look at for him. He fears due to age the disks may be ruined so someone skilled in that area would also be needed to check out what's on these old disks. As much as I enjoyed the prototype, I feel it could be much much better given the license and the original dev may be on board for this. Just seeing what could be done for this as missing in action may potentially see a drastic re release. Who's interested?
+save2600
Me! Really like what's already going on in MIA... just needs a little more polish, etc. as you say. Also interested to find out what all he's got on those disks. This is how games like Toki get discovered!

Probably Atari ST based upon a quote from him here: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/210475-a-couple-of-words-from-chuck-sculptured-software/ Edited December 1, 2015 by Lynxpro
Lynxpro
Me! Really like what's already going on in MIA... just needs a little more polish, etc. as you say. Collision detection, definitely. As to your other point, about how games like these are found, "Glenn the 5200 Man" made the claim in his Antic Podcast Interview that he has several unreleased 7800 games on disc [unclear if they are ST or Amiga discs but most like ST discs]. Lynxpro
I wonder what else he has on disc... Here's his Antic Podcast Interview… I haven't listened to it yet: http://ataripodcast.libsyn.com/antic-interview-14-the-atari-8-bit-podcast-chuck-peavey

sn8k
He told me not to get my hopes up, so we may or may not see a final release. My best guess is the actual cart since its a dev cart. He may be able to complete the game off that alone. I dont know. Hopefully what he needs is on those disks

Thought I'd ask because we have a professional data recovery specialist company nearby and they claim they are almost always successful in retrieving data from really old discs [or disks]…including 8" disks. They primarily do government work, not just for the State of CA but also the Feds. I'll have to dig out some of their swag to get the company's name... UberArcade
I find it strange that the person who originally worked on the game needs help seeing if the discs are still good. So he forgot how to use an old computer?

So he forgot how to use an old computer? More probable he doesn't have access to an ST any longer. OR hell, even more likely... his disk drive went bad! Thank.you for sharing this info With a few altercations, missing in action would be more Awsome than it already is. My fingers are crossed. I would definitely order a perfected cart of this game. Lynxpro
...I mean if any disks are found. There's gotta be a trusted member living in the UK with an ST that could assist Mr. Peavey in reading those discs and then get the contents to you... I'd hope that same member could also assist the programmer of 7800 Paperboy in going into his attic to recover his ST discs that might still be readable with the source code to it. For the record, people have tried contacting Glenn the 5200 Man since his Antic Podcast interview inquiring about him stating he has unreleased 7800 games [on either ST or Amiga discs] but he hasn't replied back. If he truly did get discs of unreleased 7800 games when Atari Corp closed down, then he could possibly have Electrocop. ubersaurus
I find it strange that the person who originally worked on the game needs help seeing if the discs are still good. So he forgot how to use an old computer? It's a common problem with digital archiving and preservation - proprietary formats needing proprietary hardware/software to be read, copied and saved, on top of bit rot being an issue. The Usotsuki
Shouldn't an ST disk read fine on a PC? It's even FAT12.
