They are definitely the best team in that division right now, they just had a slow start to the season. They won their last 5 out of 6, while the Armada and River Raiders had a mediocre second half. The Dogs held off the champs for 7 innings, so they can compete at the same level. That would have made a good championship series. The Beamriders are going to win it easily if the Armada or River Raiders don't step it up. And if the Armada win the network, it's because the other two teams failed, not that they earned it. The River Raiders kept fighting in the 10th and scored on a Mutants error to go on to win 2-1! With all that effort, unfortunately, the Armada still win the Battle Network on a tie breaker. tacrec Posted June 24, 2016 Author Share Posted June 24, 2016 The 2016 Intellivision Baseball League Championship Series between the Beamriders and the Armada begins this Monday! This will be the third appearance by the Beamriders in the league's short three year history. In 2014, they lost a tough series to the Spartans in three games. They had an even tougher series against the Bombers last year, but had a huge game three to win the league championship. They have continued their dominance this year, coming into the series with a record of 8-2. Aside from those two losses, their offense, pitching and defense have been solid and they always find ways to win. The Armada have emerged as champions of the always tough Battle Network. They come into their first championship series with a record of 6-4. They had a six game winning streak in the middle of the season, and were in the position of clinching the Battle Network title these past two weeks. Unfortunately, their pitching and defense cost them their last two games. They have not had much of an offense this year, their winning streak has been powered by strong pitching and defense. If those can return to form, they might be able to hold the Beamriders back. This will be a special championship series as the game videos on YouTube will have sound for the first time. tacrec Posted June 30, 2016 Author Share Posted June 30, 2016 Well, that's the end to this wild and crazy third season. Here's a review: With three network championships, two league championships, and an overall record of 21-7, the Beamriders look unstoppable as they build a dynasty. However, this championship series was their toughest and closest ever, so they can't be too confident in having a dominant future. The two newest teams in the league Ghosts and Deadly Dogs had great first seasons, and both of them were a couple of wins short of winning network championships. Definitely a bright future for both of these teams. The Smash had a great start this year, but again lost their momentum through the season. Some new coaches and maybe a new manager is needed to keep them consistent. The Snakes just didn't have it offensively this year. All of their six losses were shutouts, and they only scored six runs all season. They need to get some big bats in this offseason. Although the Armada were Battle Network champions and are slightly improved this year, they too will need offensive help next season. Pitching and defense were solid except for a couple of games. With a stronger offense, they might be able to take the league championship in the future. The River Raiders are improving each season, but they need to remain consistent offensively. Pitching and defense were great this season. The Bombers started off this season great, but had a bad second half going 1-4 and scoring only three runs in those games. They too need an offensive upgrade this offseason. Pitching and defense were solid as usual. The Spartans are another sporadic team that had moments of greatness but were still flat offensively and allowed too many runs. They need many new players to get back to the championship series. Hopefully the Mutants can get it together to have a winning season next year, but they also really need help. Thanks to all of the fans!
