Intellivotion...

Show me ONE other thread where people are talking about their children, sharing their experiences of joy with their kids -- EXCLUSIVELY as the topic of conversation -- in which someone posts an inappropriate and tasteless sexual comment.

The bottom line here, for me, is that just because a thread is created to share one's experiences of gaming with their kids, doesn't mean that their kids should be reading that thread. And if the kids are not reading it, then why would a "sexual comment" be inappropriate among adults?

The OP was saying that he was having so much fun playing Intellivision games that night. I simply stated that masturbation is still more fun.

My.... my god.

I can't imagine the nuclear meltdown the Internet would experience if a lotion shipment ever went missing. Or if too many porn videos got released in the same month.

My jaw literally hit the floor thinking about this.

Maybe you should find a new definition for censorship. In fact, the Atari Age moderation is really tolerant. In most other boards I know it could not even close be like its here. So stop your personal vendetta and move of. If its so bad here may just look for another board :?

It's not a personal vendetta. I'm just jokingly pointing out the double standards. Others are making jokes similar to mine, yet nobody seems bothered by it.

Of course these are just to poke fun at the issue at hand.

I don't really want to get involved *politically*, but I think it simply boils down to is that this thread isn't about bonding time between a father and son, where raunchy jokes may not be suitable.

If that particular thread was about a memory from 30yrs ago, then that may have been different. It is just a little creepy when raunchy posts are made when that bonding time is happening right now.

This thread should have been a PM, but it wasn't, and so we are just trying to lighten the mood.

We all need to take some lessons from Bonnie.

Having seen the first post and having my comment "censored" as well, I will chime in.

I thought is was a less than ideal response to a post about a father playing Intellivision with his child. I tried to point that in my post in a light way. While these types of jokes date as far back as our written history goes...sometimes they are best left in other threads. AA is mostly an adult audience, but even so in some threads our responses could be more thoughtfully constructed.

I'm happy the post and my reference to it were taken off the tread. I know it was humor and in most threads that comment would be pretty common but I think this was a very unique and thoughtful post. Sometimes we should just respect that.

I am not one for being politically correct...and generally don't believe in censorship or editing...I did however cringe at you post Eric...I don't think it was an intentionally inappropriate post. We all go over the line sometime. Especially when Rev and CMart express their love....

The internet "gasps" were generally because of an "inappropriate" comment in that thread due to a 6-year old potentially reading it and/or because the 6-year old has an AA account.

That same logic can be used for every single thread on AA (yes, I know Opry99er explained the parenting going on etc etc). Of course not many threads are started about a dad and son playing Intellivision, but MOST threads start off innocently and God knows how many go off the rails in the INTV forum. A lot. I'm not sure why that one was singled out, other than what I keep reading "IT WAS ABOUT A FATHER AND SON etc" .. Ok. Does that make it more special than someone asking about a game, which then turns to crap and gifs and scary bad words? Both went off topic. Both can be seen as crude. Really, anyone with an account can potentially read any post in any forum here and see adult-ish stuff.

And as someone wrote about... of COURSE the reaction would be different depending on who wrote it. If one of the cool kids in INTV school wrote that, it'd be "oh you silly goose!" and Bea Arthur, bacon, or Shatner pictures would follow. Eric says it and the place goes silent like the bar in Animal House.

But what's done is done, right?
