Place Logo Here
Saw Steve Golson, Ed Fries and Warren Davis speak this past Saturday at ReplayFX in Pittsburgh. All gave GREAT talks to a shamefully small audience. I wanted to go back into the arcade, grab people and yell, "DO YOU KNOW WHO COULD POSSIBLY MEET TONIGHT?!?". Anywho, Steve not only dished on the development of the 7800, but he brought some great stuff along to see up close afterwards. Things like: The original 3600 board The original, final schematic for MARIA Original specs docs More docs (notice the Ms. PacMan on the last page--nice touch there) ..and the coupe d'grace... The only prototype for the never released adaptor to play 7800 carts on the 5200! And, as it just happened to be my birthday, Steve graciously autographed my console: I had a great time
+Cafeman
It was nice to meet a fellow AA'er and Atari fan at the show, Justin. Thanks for taking the time to share your pics. I'll MSG you a picture I snapped that had both you and Steve in it , at his table.

All gave GREAT talks to a shamefully small audience. If you got off the up escalators at the convention center were these guys off to the left way past the ticket booths? If so, I think that was the reason for a small audience. It would've been better if they used the area between the entrance to the expo and the bathrooms instead. Plus, I never heard any announcements being made during the expo. None. About anything.
+Cafeman
Announcements would have been a good idea.

Plus, I never heard any announcements being made during the expo. None. About anything. Yep, that was it. I learned about it from a post here in the forums, but it was also on the event schedule banners in multiple locations. Announcements probably would have been a good idea, but there was so much going on that they would have probably been lost in the audio clutter--especially if a band was playing (the one thing I wouldn't mind seeing left out of future occurences of this event). And I definitely would not want the staging area moved closer to the main hall as there were several interruptions where it was.

I think they need to consider making announcements regularly over a loud speaker as a reminder of what's going on. Heck, I didn't even know the pinball finals were going on when I was there Saturday night. They had the pinball finals on Sunday last year. Lynxpro
Any new juicy details revealed or any ponderings about who might have some unreleased protos still? Personally, I'd love to hear from former GCC staff about the GUMBY and whether they truly lobbied Warner/Atari Inc/Atari Corp about not sticking the 7800 into the 2800's case. That and whether at any point during the tense Tramiel negotiations if Atari Games ever poked their head in and expressed any interest in making a rival offer to buy the console... Oh...and about that 7800 Trak-Ball of theirs!
