Is Iron Soldier as good as the cover looks?

IS is one of the handful of games I bought when KB toys was liquidating the Jaguar. It's a challenging and fun game. I bought the cart version of IS2 about a month before I convinced my grandma to buy me the Jag CD for Christmas (I was like 16 at the time they were liquidating all the stuff).

I've owned this original painting for around 10 years now and it is one of my favorite Atari items.

Honestly, I've never played the game but the cover image for this one is just so awesome it can not be ignored.

I'm afraid to play it at this point for fear it won't live up to the awesomeness of the cover image.

So speak up Jag fans. Do I have anything to fear? I haven't even looked at Youtube video footage for fear it will ruin things for me.

Here is the original painting.

I would buy a remake that had graphics like that!

Same here! Weird that there aren't that many mech games outside of Japan. Especially ones as good as Iron Soldier was. I still have not completed the second one... in fact it's so hard, that it seems like they really meant it as a true sequel where the missions get harder and harder. Most video game sequels just take place in the same world, but start out easier.

Isn't the only difference between the Cart and CD of the second one the intro 'movie' and death sequence?

The soundtrack is missing too.
