+atari2600land
While I was asleep, I dreamed I was making a golf game for the Atari 2600. Weird thing to dream about, I know. So I thought, in my sleep, "Once I wake up, why not make this a reality?" I didn't want to get up yet, so while asleep, I thought about what could go where, and stuff like that. I got up, rushed to the computer, and a few hours later, this is the result. A little putting mini-game. Press and hold fire to build up your shot, then release fire and watch the ball roll on the green. Don't know if I should make a golf game that uses this putting. What say you? 2600golf1.zip
+Random Terrain
Is there something in the ZIP file that we are supposed to open? Never mind. It's working now.
+atari2600land
Made a golf fairway. It's sort of like the Atari version of Golf, but better. And there's out of bounds borders, so be careful where you swing. If you get close enough to the green, it switches over to the putting screen. 2600golf4.bas.bin
Arenafoot
I like the layout but I can't figure out how to aim to the right.........

Any way of making the greens scroll down after first shot? - i.e. bring the flag closer to the player
+atari2600land
I changed and fixed some stuff. 7 years later. Why did I come back to this? A request on the 2600 hacks about someone wanting different holes for the original Atari Golf game. Ball directions changed. To hit the ball left, be on the right side of the ball. To hit right, be on the left side. Diagonal shots are allowed too. Just move the joystick in a circular direction. I may change it and make it use a paddle controller. Has driving controller support gone in bB yet? Yes, I know there has been a golf game for the 2600 game made since then, but I just wanted to work on mine to chase the boredom away! 2600golf7.bin
CrazyChris
Do you always make the final put, if you let it go to full power?
+atari2600land
Yes, Perhaps I should change that, but I don't know how I would. In the meantime, I changed a lot of stuff to make it better and added a third hole. EDIT: I changed the way you putt. EDIT: I changed the look a lot. 2600golf10.bin
CrazyChris
If the hole was more towards the center of the screen. You could hit the ball past the cup.
+atari2600land
I made putting like hitting the ball long distance. I also got rid of those stupid blue lines. I guess it gives it more like a "Golf" look. In order to do this, I had to move the club to the other sprite. I tried to make it look like the guy is holding a club. 2600golf11.bin

I just saw this thread about your Golf 2600 game. Thank you for coming back after 7 years to do more updates!

The tones give you a way to "gauge" how far your shot will go. It will keep going until the musical tone comes back up again to the starting tone. Very original. I think I have never seen anything like that in an Atari 2600 game before. The golfer looks good. The golf club, ball, flag and grass all look good. What I don't like: Just like Imagic's Trick Shot, I really want to like this game for Atari 2600, but there are just not enough good shooting angles to make it feel satisfying to play. I find myself seemingly always between two angles, wishing there was a third angle in between. Increase the number of shooting angles and I think this golf game for Atari 2600 has a chance. How's that? Edited September 14, 2023 by Living Room Arcade
