Thinking about getting back into the Atari 5200 after 30+ years (QUESTIONS)

It had been so long since I played Pole Position on the Atari 5200 that I forgot how to shift into high gear.

 

It never occurred to me to push the joystick up... how embarrassing. The guy I purchased the unit from renewed the joystick, so I knew it was not that. I pressed every button, but was still stuck in low gear. So as an average guy, I of course downloaded and read the manual LAST.

I think on PP you have to hit Reset before it allows you to change options. It took me too long to figure that out. I thought I had a bad cart!

Yeah... I tried that and am still having no luck. I'll try again when I get back home today.
