ElectricLab called for a CHATTI (name tentative) ~pronounced Chatty~ testing this past weekend.

CHATTI is a realtime messenger program for the TIPI equipped TI.

I grabbed some screenshots with my phone. I was chatting in real time with multiple people on the other side of the country using a real TI console equipped with TIPI.

Initial LogIn screen - had to choose a shortened name when registering at myti99.com

First Screen - *sniff* -

Our initial tests revealed a new BUG - spacebar not working - it has since been fixed....

CHATTI is still in the early stages of development testing with features being discussed - I really think everyone is going to love this when done. It felt no different than having a chat window open in windows because my TI and PC are next to each other. So my console was on all day this past weekend (I think Sunday) while I did PC stuff and to my surprise, I got a new msg from PeTeE and was off chatting with him in no time at all.

icon_biggrinwink.gif Here ya go!

P.S. - Just ignore the loading instruction if you are using the FlashROM version.

Thanks I am loading the flashrom version from finalgrom..

I got it to load, and it works fine from DSK1 emulation, any dir on DSK1 works..

the dir routine does not like TIPI. as a device but LOAD loaded Bigfoot fine from TIPI.GAMES.EA5.BIGFOOT

also type pi.config worked.. icon_smile.gif

I see edit on the disk but no instructions on invoking the editor.. nm i figured it out just have to load EDIT40

Still a little rough but a good start!

Nice! so just hit enter at the search (leave blank) - most excellent.

Also notice the "Updating..." Poll. Sweet. Well done.

EDIT: BTW - for those reading along -

To show some TIPI capabilities demo'ed in the past.

In the TIPICFG (tiPi configuration program) I have a slot called URI3 which is one of 3 reserved for URLs.
URI3 = HTTP://<path to website folder containing CHATTI>
I turn on the TI, Select 1 for TI BASIC

then enter
CALL TIPI("URI3.CHATTI")

and press enter.

This loads the messenger client from ElectricLab's website on the TI.

I do not have CHATTI stored locally. Why do that now? It's constantly being updated as as long as EL saved the newest file on his website, running this command will always load the latest CHATTI.

I sure wish I could be working on improving CHATTI but unfortunately I had to fly across the country for an emergency at work. I'll have some fixes and new features rolled out by the end of the coming weekend though!

I understand... Next week it is my turn to fly east and deliver a fix for a system deadlock to a customer. I've got the tickets, now I have to hope I find the fix before I lift off.

That's food porn... I remember protein. Now, I'm vegan... which usually means, I bring dried fruit and nuts when I travel...

I am going to south-west PA.. But the non-refundable tickets and hotels are already booked... :) That's generous... would have been cool if it could have worked out....

I am just relieved, it looks like I have just fixed the issue... so I won't be arriving at the customer with nothing but questions... :) My back pain just went away too :) And now I should have time this week to keep marching on TIPI!!

Greg, you can use DSK4. for an alias to TIPI. might work better with that.

Someone on the team is going to make a PDF users manual for all us eventual users.... right? While you lucky stiffs get to play and learn all the goodies in incremental steps, the rest of us will be thrown into the deep end of the pool on day one. For aging people losing their minds, that can be an interesting swim.

TIPI will evolve, I don't think a PDF makes much sense, a website that grows with it does make sense.

The team has really done a superb job at keeping it simple, keeping it TI for the end user.

As for developer's, they've cleared the forest and created a wide open pathway of possibilities.

Just about everything you need to know to get up and running is on this page right here (it's been updated):

Don't forget about TIPI on github either. It's open source so check it all out. Even some of the scripts and things (especially you coders out there).

No need to wait until "The Day"! :)

EDIT: and of course, ask here....

So, is there a BOM for construction of the hardware (connectors, etc)?

I've got boards and parts on hand to build about 20...

The surface mount CPLD is tiresome. The stacking connector needs to be cut down one column. You need a Xilinx JTAG programmer and an eprom programmer to program the chips on the board.

I'll make a BOM available soon... Every board I don't have to build is time I can spend on software.

So, I'm looking at V9T9 FIAD files, and don't really see a deterministic way to tell that it is a V9T9...

I can take a best guess... if the file type flags make sense, and the size indicators make sense, then guess and go. My goal here is to provide a conversion to TIFILES option from the TIPI web-ui, as TIPI will treat foreign files like DIS/FIX 128 otherwise.

Anyway, this detection of V9T9 seems error prone, is there a more reliable indicator that I'm missing?

As crazy as it sounds - can you convert a TIFile (backup) to voto and compare the 2 with a hexeditor or something similar? I noticed when I open up the save files from my number guess game in windows notepad there is some sort of header that says TIFLE at the top. I never tried looking at a v9t9 file that way. I've been fighting Windows 10 all day and think i have to restore from backup tomorrow else I'd have checked just out of curiosity.
