New Atari Console that Ataribox?

Atari Games would've been owned by Midway/Warner Bros.

I wonder how one goes about acquiring an abandoned trademark? :ponder:

Just goto USPTO and apply for it. Trademarks are by industry (there are like 17). You just goto the software one, apply and pay a fee. In 1-2 years you'll get approved. This is assuming that it's just words. If it's a logo, then you should have a company do a search before applying.

Now patents are a whole nother story. It took be over 7 years to get one even after being told by the USPTO that my product did not infringe on any other product. but that is another story.

Oh wait a sec, Atari games was abandoned in may 2017 and then refiled in june and approved in nov 2017.

It was approved to Atari interactive. looks like software, toys and clothes industries.

Could you please stop posting unrepresentative Atari Stock Charts.

Posting an Intraday Chart on a day where the whole global markets are going down is absolutely dumb.

In fact the Atari stock is one of the best Stock Developments for the past 3/4 year on the Stock Exchange.

So I ate 1 1/2lbs of trail mix reading the last 15 pages.. and now I have no room for tacos.

Will they call it "The new VCS!" So that way consumers don't confuse it with that one they just bought 40 years ago?

They'll probably go with something along the lines of, "AtariVCS 2017 2018 eventually We Really Wanted It To Happen".

DEAD

Accolade

Choplifter

Infogrames

Rampage

I suppose it costs money to uphold trademarks, so not that strange if they dropped a lot of those they have no intentions to use. I filtered out a few, and wonder if Atari really held the trademarks to Choplifter and Rampage from the beginning, or if those have been acquired over the years? Same about the company Accolade. A little peculiar if they dropped their previous company name Infogrames, which a fair number of people still refer them as since they can't accept the company is called Atari SA.

But I understand they're not in immediate jeopardy, as it is a more involved process to obtain a trademark than it is to steal an unused Internet domain name.

Maybe not the right place to post, but theres always people constantly talking here about how if the opportunity ever arose, how we should do a fundraiser or some sort for Albert to buy the Atari name.

But what about the Telegames name and brand? Does Sears still own that? How much is it worth? Sears has been declining for a long time (obviously) and a lot of their brands like Kenmore and Craftsmen tools they have sold off (along with a lot of their real estate) How much would it cost to buy the Telegames brand? A dollar? $100? Hahahahahaha

- It's like $400 to file and $425 after 10 years to renew. Although you really should hire a PT attorney like quickpatents. They'll do research and tell you a lot of good stuff.

-Infogrames acquired accolade in 1999 for 60 mil

There was Sears Tele-Games (the rebranded Atari and Mattel consoles) and there was the company called Telegames (they used to warehouse Atari Jaguar games, released a few obscure titles on several systems, and sold a rebranded ColecoVision clone). How much is it worth? Probably not enough to pay for the registration fees.

Besides, things that reference television seem archaic now, don't you think? Television is how you punish kids by taking away their mobile devices.

No shit Sherlock! Aren't both of those two big trademark swamps that sane people want to step far around? One would have to live under a rock to not be aware both those trademarks are actively looked after, though not neccessarily actively used for profitable business.

Heh, I didn't bother linking because I thought they were dead. While their online store for "orphaned" video game products is gone, their software publishing output fits on one tidy page!

attachicon.giftelegames.png

Yeah, it was because of a tornado that destroyed their warehouse that must of wiped out a good portion of their "orphaned" software.

Here's a picture of where Telegames USA is located I'm guessing)- in DeSoto Texas. The business next to it is a health and hospice. It looks like a converted Pizza Hut.

Huh?

I'm pretty sure Cloanto bought the rights to Amiga. They even had a lawsuit with Hyperion end of last year over the use of Amiga. Also I'm pretty sure The Connecticut Leather Company has always owned the Coleco trademark.

The Connecticut Leather Company WAS Coleco, and they went bankrupt and disappeared in 1988. Heres an article from the New York Times about it that is dated July 13, 1988.

https://www.nytimes.com/1988/07/13/business/coleco-fails-to-fend-off-chapter-11.html

Some scumbag company called River West Brands currently owns the rights to the Coleco name. They acquired it in 2005.

Dormitus, which to me sounds like college chlamydia. They seem to have gone into hibernation, probably for the best. They also own marks for Brim, Handspring, Cingular, AIWA, and Cross Colours.

They appear to have acquired Slice, the old soda brand; I was wondering why no one has made an apple soft drink, so I'm sorry if they read my musings.

It would seem that their old star holding, Spuds McKenzie, has crossed the rainbow bridge.

Who owned the Coleco name before river west?

Between 1988 and 2005? No idea and am too lazy to attempt to Google it

Go here http://dormitus.com/river-west-brands/and click on the photo or just go to riverwestbrands.com

Their site was suspended for non payment (Probably just abandoned their old River West Brand site after being acquired by Doritos, errr I mean Dormitus, but why link your old abandoned website on their site?)

That whole site Dormitus.com just looks..... suspect. I'm curious, how much did they (or just he? looks like it may be a one man operation, Mark Thomann) pay for the Cingular name from AT&T? Or Slice soda from Pepsico? And it looks like he thinks hes going to bring back Slice Soda as some low sugar/low calorie soda, haha can't wait to see that play out after seeing how his Coleco Chameleon project turned out to be a rousing success!

http://dormitus.com/news/

Update:Looks like this whackjob Mark Thomann doesn't actually own the Cingular name or anything.

https://www.courthousenews.com/firm-says-att-is-clinging-to-cingular-mark/

Dormitus filed intent-to-use applications for two Cingular Wireless Marks in January 2014, nearly seven years after AT&T took over Cingular and allegedly abandoned the marks.

https://www.scribd.com/document/240741921/Dormitus-Complaint-for-Declaratory-Judgment-Against-ATT

His Linkedin profile https://www.linkedin.com/in/mark-thomann-0626815

Grab some popcorn to enjoy while you read it. Hes the CEO of River West and owner of Dormitus. So River West actually wasn't acquired by Dormitus, he just changed the name (or started the same company again with a new name and abandoned the original, hence the suspended website riverwestbrands.com for non-payment) after he tarnished the River West name with his shenanigans.

I'm almost certain it was abandoned, which is why River West was able to snatch it up for cheap/free.

Remember, all they got was trademarks, no intellectual property, hardware, software, art, or designs.

This is the intellectual property version of digging through someone's trash can, then knocking on their door, offering to sell it back to them.

sure as shit does not stop them from trying "we have x decades in the biz bringing you popular products such as the do-dad, lets send C&D letters to all fans of the brand and bring out some garbage only 10% of people over the age of 30 even remember!!!"
