Tanooki
Got this, it's in English but not in the US market -- asia (and middle east) only for now. I coincidentally got in contact with them over their site messages the other day and got a reply before I saw this bit this morning saying they're working with a couple US publishers to try and get a NA market physical release. Either way, no region lock, so it's a thing. https://nintendosoup.com/wonder-boy-dragons-trap-nintendo-switch-get-physical-edition-asia/
eightbit
Fast forward and we have the USA release. And it is one of the major reasons I purchased a switch (this and Odyssey). I can't tell you how much I loved this game when I purchased it on release day for the Master System. Then a few years later I got a surprise and it was released with enhanced graphics and sound for the TG16. And as a total shocker, nearly 30 years later I see it again, remade right...with the ability to flip back to the SMS graphics/sound version I grew up on on the fly. This was an instant purchase for me...and purchasing it literally made me feel like the kid I used to be looking for shiny new games for his beloved Master System. I really hope game devs do more of THIS.
eightbit
It might also be noteworthy to add (since I really do not see mention of this when this game is reviewed) is that there are some additional options in the game to adjust for scanlines in retro mode. But more interestingly, there is an option to turn on the FM sound for the game. This is the sound you would have gotten with a Sega Mark III (Japanese SMS) and we didn't get that in our SMS consoles here in the states. Super cool.
adamchevy
How was this game? I am thinking about picking this game up or the New Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom. I’m not sure which one to get? I know the answer is both, but which one is the better game? Edited March 4, 2019 by adamchevy
Tanooki
Go with Monsterboy it's a new and more fluid and comfortable game to attack. Wonderboy is much a throw back to the late 80s early 90s so it's a bit stiff even if the audio and visuals are beautiful it is more of a throwback. I'd honestly buy both, but Monsterboy first.
roots.genoa
I agree with Tanooki. Dragon's Trap is also a very short game, and at the same time it can be difficult to beat without a few hidden items... And if you can wait, a demo for Monster Boy is on its way!

Rick Dangerous
Does this have the ability to play with the original 8/16 bit graphics, or is it just the modern/updated graphics?
