Mega Sg Confirmed!

I would think so, just as the SuperNT can play Super Famicom cartridges. The "lockout" was just physical posts, right?

I think it is just a physical difference, so shouldn't present an issue, just didn't see anything with in black and white on Analogues website, I could of missed it off course

Well I just sent an email to analogue requesting they cancel my Mega sg order. My wallet could use the breather. I played sonic last night for the first time in 2 decades with my new mega everdrive x8 on my stock genesis version 1 through the OSSC with the new RGB cable I got. The image looks good enough without me needing the Mega sg I think.

Thank goodness for save states on the everdrive! I used that feature an awful lot last night. I just wish it wasn't so easy to "save" instead of "load." That tripped me up twice when I was rushing through the menu. Strangely I was getting a ROM data error in the everdrive self diagnostic menu. Interestingly it went away and never came back after I used some some menu options for storing to, loading from everydrive memory. Perhaps its just a sloppy diagnostic test that isn't tolerant of uninitialized memory? I could find anything on it with a google search. Ohwell. I assume my everdrive is fine.

Analogue just posted that the Mega Sg is shipping early - March 25.

Also, Peter Brown from GameSpot put up pics of his review unit attached to a model 1 Sega CD. Looks kinda ugly. Hopefully the model 2 looks better with it.

edit: a look at the launch features on YouTube.

Well yeah, that was to be expected just based on the size of the thing alone. What also doesn't help is the style of the Mega SG. It doesn't really fit the look of either the Model 1 or even the Model 2 Sega CD. Still nice to have the option to use it on them though.

Be pretty cool if a Analogue Mega SG-CD was released also. Front loading lots about the right width from those photos

You're right that it certainly doesn't fit the styling, but it's OK.

Been on the fence since they first announced the Mega SG, but caved in and placed my order after seeing the Analogue intro. Also pre-ordered a copy of Tanglewood, and Xeno Crisis, along with a pair of Retrobit Sega 6 button wired controllers.

Finally get some use out of my old Mega Drive collection residing in storage.

The Collectorvision Phoenix is already going for the FPGA ColecoVision, so there's existing competition. Analogue would have to build cores for those systems and release them. I can't imagine they're interested in getting into a market when someone else is there. My guess is that's why they haven't re-released the Nt Mini in a plastic shell when the RetroUSB AVS already exists.
