42bs
Found this one:https://github.com/richgel999/lzham_codec which compresses the scene file (well, the Lynx version) from 641532 down to 358890! But yet, I have no idea if it is possible to decompress with the Lynx
enthusi
I can only advertise exomizer that is well known/used in C64 community and comes with a 6502 depacker source. There are slightly better ones and also faster ones but exomizer has among the best ratio of size-to-speed.
42bs
Just checked and the compression is quiet good, even perfect for the need. Edit: Hell is this a mess. A lot of decrunchers and no hint which to use ;( Edited December 7, 2018 by 42bs

42bs
lz4 was my first choice, but it does not compress enough. Depack though is quick.

+karri
Hi guys. What compressor was in use in the old times? I mean in any of the commercial titles? Is there a C-source or something that I could use for de-compressing the data blobs? The reason I ask is that I have spent some time lately in disassembling old code and it kind of carries you away. It is a little like solving the secrets of the pyramids. In a safer environment. So far I have not found any compressed titles. But I am still just scratching the surface. Heaven/TQA
For the vic20 demo I used byteboozer 1 and 2. And adapted the c source. https://csdb.dk/release/?id=33093 https://csdb.dk/release/?id=145031 Edited December 7, 2018 by Heaven/TQA
