tschak909 Posted January 4, 2019 Share Posted January 4, 2019 Brent pinged me and asked if there would be potential support in PLATOTerm, for this guy: An interesting thought, to be sure, But how would it be mapped? Here are the special PLATO keys: | PLATO KEY | Atari Key | |--- |--- | | ANS | CTRL-A | | BACK | CTRL-B | | SHIFT-BACK | CTRL- + (left arrow) | | COPY | CTRL-C | | SHIFT-COPY | CTRL- - (up arrow) | | DATA | CTRL-D || | SHIFT-DATA | SHIFT-CTRL-D | | EDIT | CTRL-E | | SHIFT-EDIT | SHIFT-CTRL-E | | FONT | CTRL-F | | ÷ | CTRL-G | | HELP | CTRL-I | | SHIFT-HELP | SHIFT CTRL-H | | LAB | CTRL-L | | SHIFT-LAB | CTRL-= (down arrow) | | SUPER | CTRL-P | | SHIFT-SUPER | SHIFT CTRL-P | | SQUARE | CTRL-Q | | ACCESS | SHIFT CTRL-Q | | STOP | CTRL-S | | SHIFT-STOP | SHIFT CTRL-S | | TERM | CTRL-T | | × | CTRL-X | | SUB | CTRL-Y | | SHIFT-SUB | SHIFT CTRL-Y | | CR and LF | Select RETURN | -Thom 2 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Gunstar Posted January 4, 2019 Share Posted January 4, 2019 (edited) Are you sure the guy meant he wanted it implemented as a controller? And not just as a keyboard extension for entering numbers? That's what I thought this thread was about when I read the title. I thought to use it alongside and in addition too a joystick/mouse/touchtablet/keyboard. I don't see how it would be any more convenient to use it instead of controlling directly from the keyboard. tschak909 Posted January 4, 2019 Author Share Posted January 4, 2019 I'm curious too, but with this whole project (IRATA, and PLATOTerm), I have a very simple policy: If someone has a crazy idea, I will help them implement it. -Thom 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Brentarian Posted January 4, 2019 Share Posted January 4, 2019 To be honest, I was just trying to find an excuse to use the CX85. The last time I used one for longer than 5 minutes was the early 80's when typing in ANALOG magazine listings (all the numbers in DATA statements); left hand on the Atari keyboard for the comma and right on the CX85 to enter the numbers in faster. A custom overlay added to the keypad could have descriptions near each key. As far as mapping is concerned, maybe the top 17 custom keys used in Plato? Practical? Not a bit! I'd use it with an 800 and an old composite amber monitor I still own, for that old Plato terminal look. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
tschak909 Posted January 4, 2019 Author Share Posted January 4, 2019 Definitely something to try. If somebody wants to get to it, before me, the code's on github! -Thom Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
