The history of making games in the 80's Infocom etc

Saw a link to this elsewhere, hope its not been posted already..

 

Has our own super hero, Kevin Savetz in it as well as a wealth of stars of our gaming world (in general)..

 

Not looked at it much (only just found it) but did seem very interesting..

Watched the live stream.

 

I am so glad that the Infocom games have been liberated and curated. For the first time in history, a _very_ large cache of ZIL code is now out in the open, not only for academic study, but also to use as a base for new interactive fiction using ZIL (to complement efforts being done in Inform, Twine, etc.)

 

This is precisely how each of the Infocom games were made, BITD, by building a kernel of code around the game closest to the one you were trying to make, and subsequently extending it.
