+Steve Jones
Hey Intellivision hive mind, I want to use a Sega genesis controller to play jzintv with the following mappings can anyone tell me what my kbdhackfile needs for this (all Intellivision keys are for left controller, one player only games) Sega Button X = Intellivision Keypad 1 Sega Button Y = Intellivision Keypad 9 Sega Button A = Intellivision Top side button Sega Button B = Intellivision Bottom side button (either side) Sega Button C = Intellivision Keypad 8 Thanks in advance
mr_me
Assuming buttons abcxyz are numbered 0 to 5. JS0 is the first system game controller which can vary depending on the operating system. Map 0 JS0_BTN_02 PD0L_KP8 JS0_BTN_03 PD0L_KP1 JS0_BTN_04 PD0L_KP9 The side buttons should be mapped automatically but if they're not add the following. JS0_BTN_00 PD0L_A_T JS0_BTN_01 PD0L_A_L
+Steve Jones
thanks so much I'll try that right now
+Steve Jones
That half works, buttons A B and C are correct but X does nothing, Y copies A and Z copies B I'm using a 6 button Sega controller through a Vision-Daptor (dipswitches set for Genesis 3/6) which converts to USB into my MacBook Air. I'd be ok using the 1 and 9 on the MacBook but they don't seem to work with this setup.
mr_me
Use this website to see what the button numbers are, then adjust the hackfile accordingly. https://html5gamepad.com
+Steve Jones
Weirdly that site didn't recognize my gamepad at all, or another usb one I have, but through some experimenting I figured out the buttons, no real logic to them as far as I can see except maybe clockwise spiral from the middle? Much easier on the fingers for long session with simple game.

+Steve Jones
Haha actually I've been beta testing a relatively simple but challenging game that uses mainly just the side buttons and my Intellivision controller was getting a bit hard on the old fingers after a few hours.
