Only on certain 7800 revisions. It works 100% on mine.

Just got my Concerto today. Just tried it on my early unit and no dice. Mine's an AT84 unit. I've tried a handful of 7800 games other than that and they all appeared to be working correctly. Also tried a couple 2600 games and they were good too.

The only issue I've run into apart from the above is while navigating the list of games it has locked up to a black screen which requires powering the unit off and on again.

I found 3 available POKEY chips available which might work with my Concerto, which one should I get so I can enjoy all the great games with all the great sound???

My 7800 serial number might help you guys determine which POKEY chip I should get. Thanks in advance!!! :)

Your serial number means nothing as far as the pokey chip goes. Here is a link to get a real pokey chip for $20 plus shipping, brand new.

While I don't like you much, I don't want to see you get ripped off either.

If the tubes hold 10 chips then as of a few weeks ago he's down to less than 40 if I heard him right. After that the higher price elsewhere will be the only price.

That is alarming to hear cause I know of other places that are currently sold out and they asked at least $40 a pop. :(

Thanks for the link. I just ordered a pokey along with a few other items. It's one per customer and strictly enforced.

It's a "middle" model. A1 serial number, no expansion port.

Just when I try to be mature, I read expansion port while watching your animated avatar.

I have 2 concertos that I need to get the firmware updated on...  Got them quite a while ago...

If you got them before last year you should send them back to Batari for a hardware upgrade.

Has anyone been able to get Rampage to run?

It loads up fine, takes one to the character select screen, but then just goes back to the character select screen.

I don't know if it matters, but I'm also using a classic Genesis controller on a Seagull 78 adapter

Confirmed; seeing the same thing here.

I’ve had that happen about 80% of the time. The other 20% of the time I can actually play a game.

It ran then this graphics glitch started to happen less than a minute into gameplay.

Also tried another rom & got this screen.

Hit fire & it gets stuck at 90% on this rom.

What file did you try? Perhaps post it here and see if any of the hex-perts™ can figure out if it's a valid 7800 cartridge binary.

Well, that's a 7-Zip compressed binary file, isn't it? I'm surprised Concerto would even try to load that. Try the Rampage .A78 from Trebor's Pro Pack.

Rampage (NTSC) (Activision) (1989).a78 128.13 kB · 0 downloads

The 7-Zip file contains 2 ROM files, one with .a78 headers and the other without headers, so it shouldn't have .a78 extension but .bin extension I guess..

The ROM file from Trebor's Pro Pack is exactly the same ROM, and its header is almost the same than the one in the 7-Zip file. The difference is that the registered cart title includes "(NTSC)".

So, if the working one from the 7-Zip container has glitches, I'm sure that the one from the Pro Pack will also have.

Might this be a machine dependant issue? At least, I haven't seen that glitch in my machine for both ROMS with the header.

The 7-Zip file ...

Based on his error message from the second video, it appears he tried to load the .bin contained in the compressed archive. The .A78 may or may not run on any given machine with the same varying loading problems and errors noted above regarding Rampage (or any other title discussed in the last 20-plus pages). I don't know that the Concerto firmware supports raw binary files very well if at all. I wouldn't bother with even trying when Trebor's done all the hard work for the last several years to collect, properly label, and verify the cartridge headers on all the retail releases and a great number of the various demos, hacks and homebrews already.

tl;dr: the Concerto error was from loading a .bin file. The graphics corruption is because the Concerto loader appears to have an issue with this particular game for many people.

Yes with two .a78 roms labeled inside the zip.

* Rampage (USA) (Doesn't work, bad header).a78 [sounds like this had no header which seems wrong for its file ext as you said]

* Rampage (Works with potential graphic glitches).A78
