dont be too hard on yourself, that aluminium is particularly sensitive to surface variation. a repaired one is in the minority for sure. you often see 1050s on ebay that have had an attempt to straighten the alum strip that clearly show a panic moment and instant 'abort mission' before things worsen! ?

i agree with you there, age related scars and wounds can show honest signs of durability and a will to survive!
