Flipflargin
Amazing product. Received, installed and performing pitch perfectly. Such a hoot to play speech enabled games and have the adapter card LED show the activity. Cheers Chris!
DPOLARA
Received mine a few months ago and just now installing...and look what I found in my Speech Synthesizer? This one has the Grom connector in it! I've had about a dozen of these Speech Synthesizers and never seen one with the connector. I got this when I got a system that had RAVE Speech Synthesizer card in the PEB (Which I sold last year). I think I'll keep this one as is and sacrifice one of my other 3 that doesn't have this cute appendage. +FarmerPotato
@DPOLARA Can you tell us the date codes on the chips inside? It’s no sure indicator, but they may have codes like 8107… you could just take a picture of the board inside.

IIRC, all of the ones with the connector were made in 1979 (code LTA79xx) or early 1980 (code LTA 80xx). Some may even replace the LTA with ATA, but the number codes will not change. The xx will be the week of manufacture. @DPOLARA, that is a very good find--they are seriously uncommon, as at the time they were produced, TI was only selling a few thousand machines at most each month, and even less of peripheral items.
DPOLARA
Thanks for the info on my speech synthesizer. The date code is (LTA4280) serial number is (9058124). Let me know if there is any other info I can provide.
+Ksarul
That was exactly the information we needed, @DPOLARA. Many thanks! That tells us that the connectors were included until at least the end of October, 1980. Now to compare that to the dates of the other half dozen early Speech Synthesizers bouncing around in the community.
