ulao
Hi all, I have an Atari 5200 that didn't come with the rf unit. My plan was to mod it anyways for RCA and add a power port. I have completed this and was wondering if anyone had a suggestion on what adapter specs to use? I see the OEM adapter is like 9.3 volts and 1.8 amps. I have many 9 volts around ranging from 500mA to 4Amps but nothing of course around 9.3. Was going to use a 9volt 1.5 but wanted to ask for opinions first. Power is a bit more but that should be ok. https://www.ebay.com/itm/143497028241?hash=item216916e291:g:AGwAAOSwJAxeF5Ov Edited June 18, 2022 by ulao
+-^CrossBow^-
When connected to my bench power supply a 5200 will draw less than an amp. My guess is that Atari over spec'd the supplies to allow for expansion with other devices to be powered off the same bus. Such as from the never used expansion port and for things like the VCS adapter. But anything at 1A or better and providing at least 9v will do the job. The OEM jack by the way is a 2.5x5.5mm barrel jack. Center positive.
