+jgkspsx
A gentleman on a Facebook Lynx group posted this interesting Amazon purchase, wondering if it was legitimate. I have never seen anything like the instruction sheet, and the box design doesn’t look familiar either. But the print quality looks pretty high… You know what it reminds me of, is Telegames UK’s sometimes… practical packaging. Is this an after the fact Telegames release or something? +jeremiahjt
Yes it is definitely a bootleg. I will give you $15 for it because I, uh, collect bootlegs. Yea that's it, I am a bootleg collector. I have seen that manual before from I think Australian copies of the game.
Cebus Capucinis
I can never see the word 'bootleg' without thinking about this:
+jgkspsx
This was not my copy but I bought the last copy for $50 from the same seller. Unfortunately, Amazon shipped it in a bubble mailer and it got squashed flat ? I am considering returning it but I am afraid they might destroy it. If they don’t it might show up as a Warehouse Deal at a discount. Does anybody want it for cost before I do?
+jeremiahjt
That is terrible. Why would anybody ship that in a bubble mailer?
Leonard Smith
Made and printed in the UK. I thought most of the initial Lynx games were made in China or Taiwan. Definitely seems like a bootleg or Telegames special.

Definitely seems like a bootleg or Telegames special. Could be. But Australia got all or the vast majority of the boxed copies of this, and I could see that distribution originating from Blighty. I would not be at all surprised if Atari printed boxes and instructions and just threw leftover packins in. Telegames makes sense too, but if they printed Lynx boxes for this, why are they a different style than their own boxes? That’s why this feels like a one off to me. Amazon fulfillment centers are not a place for fragile collectibles. The seller should have put it in a box or protector.
+jeremiahjt
After buying a new copy of Warbirds from Amazon I found this thread again and I got a little worried. I sent a message to the seller, but I doubt it will do anything since it will be sent by a fulfillment center. I also bought three boxed games on Amazon from a pawn shop selling on there. I Duckduckgoed them and called them about shipping. They said they would put the games in a box for shipping. If anybody lives near Fort Collins, Daily Pawn North has Lynx games. Fingers crossed Warbirds arrives in good condition.

I started thinking about jgkspsx's California Games and how it was a Telegames copy, when I remembered that Warbirds was one of the games I think they did themselves about the same time they did California Games. Again, fortunately for me it is the actual Atari release. Unfortunately for me, they put I good sized sticker on the outside of the box which was a pain to remove. Right now I will keep this sealed since I have a loose copy and a manual, but if I ever need a second copy to play two player Comlynx Warbirds, it is getting opened.
