Intellivision Amico’s trademark changed to ‘abandoned’

Selecting a launch date two years in advance, before hiring your engineers and programmers that's going to create the thing is not realistic.  It's why I said, even without a pandemic, people wouldn't have been surprised of a delay.  Then in early 2020 they asked Fig/Republic investors for $15M, a chunk of which to go towards Amico development.

I mentioned passing the fcc rf emissions testing to give some context to the 2021 date you quoted.  Not long after that they got a half million dollar manufacturing loan.  So if they were working towards manufacturing then filing for the grantee code made sense, as it's the only thing they really need the fcc to do.  Manufacturing never happened so of course they didn't need certification.

The only thing worse would be waiting until a month or so of 10/10/2020 to officially announce a launch delay.   When it had to of been known in the spring that date  was impossible, because it had to of been in production by May 2020.

Why,...If I didn't know no better,  I'd say some people are making jokes in this thread.

Sometimes, ...You're just sitting on the launchpad;  Hoping to take a quick amico...and then...**Boom!**  ya get hit with a backlog!   It's like you expected this glorious launch,  but instead,  you barely pass emissions!

Tommy says you are not allowed to make jokes. Unless it is about Pat and Ian, or Atari, or members who don't want to join a cult. Otherwise NO FUN!!!

Some people are huffing to much of Tommy's emissions.

If the 10/10/2020 launch date (on the launchpad) was ever true…..Amico would of had to of been in ACTUAL production/manufacturing in May of 2020 (as stated in IE leaked documents) to reach that 10/10/2020 launch date.

That launch date was never realistic. They were still hiring people and the OS and games etc etc etc was not complete.

Also, FCC and CE are still not approved and passed at each respective government agency.

Yup the company continually lied and said it could be a possibility when they knew it wasn't.

No they weren't or else everyone would have their Amicos. They broke their contract because they those 100,000 have yet to materialize. Not to mention how things have been going EOL. :D

Keep huffing.

I sure he would make that claim after changing batteries in some device. Partnership in the works!!!

Hard to get someone to buy them out by admitting their failures left and right.

I'm still waiting for all that piss Tommy said would be in my Cheerios.

No, the only thing worse than that was that advertising would not begin until a few weeks befor launch.  Amazing folks actually found that reasonable.

AA was the marketing. It's why Tommy didn't want any threads that had real discussion in it.

This is one of the most hilariously blatant examples I've seen of Tommy using AtariAge as a marketing tool. Or more specifically in this case, direct investor bait, which is even worse. Not only that, he asks others to contribute to his advertisement

And he ended up posting far more than what's shown there

I imagine he thought that he would send a link to that thread to some gullible folks with money to try and convince them to give him even more.

Energizer is headquartered in Missouri. Please keep him far away from here because i'd be afraid that if he came here he's going to claim he's some sort of football hall of famer and close friends with Patrick Mahomes and start talking about how Patrick Mahomes regularly comes to him for advice on being a quarterback.

It's crazy how I just typed that, even crazier how it's a completely plausible thing for Tommy to do.

Hey, Goofus, maybe you've never heard of a little site called YouTube?  One billion hours of video watched every day?  Yeah, didn't think so; you're not our target demographic.  We're after 36 year-old soccer moms who are sick of all the hardcore pornography on SNES and could there be any more buttons?

So, on that note, check me out on Amico After Dark with SaggyMel0nz!

I wonder how it must feel to the "powers that be" here at AtariAge to know they helped scam people out of money by acting like Tallarico fanboys.

Everyone knows they won't ever address it here,  their willingness to pretend nothing ever happened is something they have in common with their celebrity buddy.

The official announcement came over two months prior, and the CEO had been talking about it for months before that. The question around the announcement wasn't if it would be delayed but for how long.  If you had a deposit on a preorder, they had money for refunds at that time.

It's an absolutely brilliant video. The funny thing is, it's a fatal knockout blow to any slight reputation Tommy might somehow have, and yet there's still so much more that could have been included.

Still, the length of everything and the way it was structured and balanced was just right, IMO. I'm sure there will be some other videos to cover other stuff.

That's still nearly four months after they must have known that it wasn't going to happen, because six months was the standard lead time on chip orders at that moment. Also, to have set the new date six months in the future still without having the chips on order, at a time when deliveries were getting backlogged, was just setting another date that they couldn't possibly meet.

With the benefit of hindsight it just looks like a flat out con. If they were being honest, they should have scrubbed their launch by April at the latest and never set a new date. They didn't.

They weren't just announcing a delay.  They were announcing another release date, which may have meant discussions with other parties, and waiting to see what happens with work restrictions, etc..  And even at that announcement they talked about uncertainty with the new date because of all the unknowns.  I didn't have much expectations for April at the time, no hindsight needed.

And we don't know when their manufacturer started ordering parts, apparently they had over a million dollars worth.

Er... we know that the Ark deal happened in September 2020. That just confirms that they had nothing in place for the supposed October 2020 launch and that it was all BS.

Also, $1.35 million is only enough for about 10,000 consoles, not the 100,000+ they were supposedly going to make. We don't even know that the money was spent on ordering parts. In any case, that deal fell through and they still should have known that they weren't going to be able to hit the April 2021 date well before the end of 2020. They didn't tell us until February 2021 though. As for the October 2021 date, they just breezed through that without even setting a new one.

I really just can't find any way of parsing this without them being serial liars.

Didn't you hear about the promotion they gave Tommy to be a ground crew member.  Surely you've seen it on TV! 😉

We talked about Oct 2020.  It's a date that was selected prematurely in 2018.  Even without a pandemic people wouldn't have been surprised about missing that release date.

They warned when they announced the April 2021 date back in August 2020 that there would be a lot of uncertainty releasing by then, probably shouldn't have announced that date.  What's wrong with making the official announcement in February 2021, it gave Republic investors plenty of time to make their final decisions before the campaign ended.

Their manufacturer might have started with ordering components with the longest lead time.  The risk disclosure mentioned parts but some money may have gone to other manufacturing activity. With all the uncertainty around component supply and pricing, they would have had to adapt production schedules, they didn't necessarily need 100k units of inventory for 2021.
