Intellivision Amico’s trademark changed to ‘abandoned’

I like baloney! This doesn't smell like baloney.

And the goal posts have moved for sure! Thing is I see no mention of the current locations of said goal posts? It's my opinion they are straight up the orifices of all players in this game of Amico, as well as being moved in and out in a rhythmic fashion by said players. Hence the ordure that is commonly associated with not baloney. ;)

Yeah, I was gonna hop on here and post about how they need to grow the fuck up.  But first I had to finish my Fruity Pebbles and wait for an episode of Thundercats to end.

1) Fruity Pebbles are still made

2) ThunderCats Ho!

I spent a chunk of my father's day watching the old TMNT cartoons with Jr Beef, playing with my old TMNT toys with Jr Beef, while also watching the second TMNT movie with Jr Beef.

I think the big difference here is when he wanted to use his more modern TMNT toys to also interact with my old TMNT toys, I didn't tell him they were some modern porn filled figures that mom wouldn't buy (I bought them for him not Ms., and my OG ones WERE approved by Nana Beef).

But while I like my old things I'm not going to act those were the ONLY ways to enjoy them. TMNT is actually a great example of a brand that seems to have had a version for every generation of kids.

It's similar with Nintendo, and I think it eats them up inside they never grew past the bleeps and bloops.

It's like the new TMNT movie. It doesn't look like my TMNT, but that's okay. I already grew up with my TMNT (so they can stay in the past where my childhood is), and I think it will be fun to watch Jr Beef grow up with his TMNT.

This is one of the biggest flaws in the idea of Amico. There are already tons of options for family gaming. Moreso than when the original Intelllivision was around, that's for sure. It is more a flaw in not wanting to try something your kid may be interested in. Or finding a game your spouse would like.

Does that mean IE shouldn't have tried? No, but it means they should have been smarter about how they went about it. Which, with the exception of a few Tommy fart sniffers, we can agree they did a piss poor job of.

If you're not eating Corn Flakes ONLY, and even then with a healthy sprinkling of Metamucil on top and a small bowl of prunes as a side dish, you're still a whippersnapper!

What is it? I can't find any info since 'tab' is a very generic name.

I'm going to ask a stupid question. Did this Amico ever come out? Where can I buy one?

Ok... just answered my own question. I went to the website and submitted a special order for it. Not sure all what it will do, but I'd have no problem paying $289 or whatever it is for something retro that's unique... especially if I can use it to play all the old Intellivision games (as in... via roms).

Hahah... I wish it were. I didn't pay anything, I signed up for the "No Deposit" pre-order.

I just meant that I wouldn't mind paying that amount for something if I knew I was going to get a quality product that would allow me to play the other games. I'm financially responsible... but I'm also going through a stage where I am... spending expendable income that I probably shouldn't.

Intellivision's employees have strongly insisted that the Amico is not a retro system and people have been chastised for calling it that.

Although the potential to play original Intellivision games via emulation was teased in a few comments from 4+ years ago, that feature never materialized. Only a few original Intellivision titles were ultimately remade to be featured on Amico and some of those flagship ones (Shark Shark, Astrosmash) have now been sold off to appear on other platforms. This and other IP turnovers are likely to disrupt any chance of official all-inclusive Intellivision packs in the future due to the maze of licensing that will eventually be required.

With all due respect, where is the cave you popped out of and why did you decide to focus in on the Amico first-thing and make assumptions about ROMs and what not?

By the way, if you're looking for some hot retro action, the iiRcade game download store will be running until this Wednesday, so you might have just enough time to get a cabinet.

Spoiler

Mean, I know, but I just can't wrap my head around getting in on the Amico without supposedly knowing anything about it.

The goal posts haven't so much been moved as dismantled, packed up, and sold on to the highest bidder along with the best of the original Intellivison IP.

It isnt even in the service of any meaningful objective either. They've gone from being on the launchpad to the console being on the back burner while the games get released on whatever platforms will have them, negating the reasoning behind making them in the first place.

I saw Moon Patrol on there... what are the chances it's some ultra-modern new version of the game? That would be pretty awesome.

Haha... this is the story. I was goofing around in the "Off Topic" section, and then happened to see a thread about a post that @Creamhoven posted about the System Shock remake in Modern Gaming... so I had to make my way over here. While I was in here, I saw the post (this one) about some Intellivision trademark that expired, and so I started reading more. I then saw everyone trashing something called the Amico, and I thought to myself... damn... what is this system? I never had an Intellivision growing up... but when I was like 19/20, they were selling on every corner at the local $wap $hop here in Florida. At one time I had an Intellivision 1 and 2, and even a 3 if memory serves me right. Game I loved best was the Dungeons & Dragons game. I eventually sold and / or gave everything away. I actually still have one Intellivison cartridge somewhere. But anyway, I have an Atari VCS and I thought to myself, it would be pretty sweet to have this new system too... and here I am.

As for arcade machines, I really don't want to trash these 1Up systems... because I'm really glad that someone is building them, but they just aren't for me. They're too small. I have four arcade machines at home, a Super PacMan that I've been restoring. It was gutted and turned into a multicade. I am keeping the multicade, but I put back the right marquee, the right side art, rebuilt the controllers, the coin door with all the stuff, etc. I also built a "Polybius" out of a trashed Zaxxon. It has one of those 2348123423424 in 1 systems in it, which has basically every CapCom game as well as the two AD&D arcade games. And then I have an original Missile Command which I've been hauling with me for almost 25 years. I bought it when I was about 19, and it's been with me in every apartment and house that I've moved into. I've been slowly restoring it, it's all original parts, and totally complete. A real CRT, and real board.

I also have a Galaga, which I've been restoring. New side art, fully working original board and power supply, controls, etc... but I've been having issues with the monitor. I replaced all the capacitors on the monitor, and it worked well for a while, but recently the color started to wash out... so I'm frustrated and I may just put a flat LED monitor in it... sigh, I know.

As for the Amico, why so much hate? This 300+ page read exactly like the Atari VCS thread before it came out, and I love that system... and I'm really glad I bought it.

This thing is actually pretty sweet! It's literally a new cartridge system.

Tab was one of, if not the, first diet colas on the market.  It was a Coca-Cola product, and it used saccharin as a sweetener rather than aspartame (generally associated with "Diet" soda varieties) or acesulfame K ("Zero" varieties).

It did have a unique flavor relative to other sugarless soda due to the saccharin.  Very, very sweet up front, with a metallic bite on the back end.  It weirdly came and went on American stores, but it did have its die-hard fans.  My grandfather used to stockpile it.

Like the Amico, it is not commercially available.  Unlike the Amico, it is a fondly-remembered product that might someday hold some value and a commercial entity.

Tab came back and was being sold again for quite some time. I seem to recall seeing it in stores just a few years ago... pretty much the same can and everything.

My mom used to buy it all the time in the 80s, so I remember it from then... but doesn't look like they sell it now.

For most people, I think reading the Wikipedia summary will suffice. In my case, I was in a college production of “Damn Yankees” so I guess you could say I lived it.

In that story, an old man makes a deal with the devil so his baseball team can beat the titular Yankees (Tommy Tallarico’s favorite team!) … only he has second thoughts about it because he misses his wife. So the devil has to send in his seductress enforcer, Lola, to turn our hero around.

In the Amico saga, who is the devil, who is Lola, and who is Joe Hardy?

My theory is that mephisto and faust are the same character like in fight club, so Tommy would be faust and mephisto from my perspective. Lola would be the supporters with their sweet cash, and Joe Hardy I have no idea about...

I'd answer your question about "hate," but I feel like this is some top notch trolling. Never heard of the Amico or know about the Evercade platform, yet you have arcade machines and are an AtariAge forum goer?

Moon Patrol has always been a favorite as one of my first memories of video gaming ever on a 2600. The remake is modernized and plays well. If you download the Amico app on any mobile phone you can actually play the first level of it right now (the Amico app has not been updated in years, but that demo still is on it). It was one of the physical release titles Amico planned but it's possible it may eventually see release on other platforms. I'd like to play the whole thing.

What ever you do,  do not talk positivly about Tommy Tallarico.

Since this is a popular thread I want tao say, that I was gone for a few days and tired to catch up with all the posts. If I per chance missed one, and not responding I am sorry. Concerning my wanting to do better thread, I am sorry that I cannot adress the points raised there. Please understand.
