Harry Potter
Hi! I finally have a version of my text adventure code for Atari 8-bit cartridges available! It is called AdvSkelVic65 and available at c65 additions - Manage /game at SourceForge.net. Try it out! BTW, how do I do a 32k Atari8 cartridge? I want that to be available in the next version. Wrathchild
Over 16K you need to bank switch the cartridge area Harry. There are many different models and most revolve around writing into the $D5xx page to select the desired bank. I'd advise looking into either the AtariMax 128KB model, selectable 8K ROM bank at $A000-$BFFF and can be disabled to expose the RAM in that area. or the XEGS models where you have a fixed 8K ROM bank at $A000-$BFFF and a selectable bank at $8000-$9FFF. Harry Potter
BTW, does Altirra support Bounty Bob cartridges? It could help with my text adventures.

Wrathchild
Why pick that, it's a very specific variant, you've been given recommendations for a reason? To answer the question, yes if course. So do the physical 'multi'-cart's that can emulate multiple cartridge models.
Harry Potter
I chose that setup because I like it. What is the format of such cartridge? The info you gave me doesn't tell me how the ROM banks are organized in the cartridge image.
+DjayBee
It seems you like others to go the extra mile for your weird and quirky decisions ("because I like it" vs. "recommendations for a reason"). Why don't you hit the virtual track yourself, wearing your virtual sweat suit and virtual runner shoes?
Harry Potter
I like it because it gives me 40k and of the way it works. I can use 12k or 16k for code and the rest for data. I could add code to access and print the data in the high cart image and store the data in the low area. Is that better?
Harry Potter
Never mind: I found the XEGS format. It can do what I want, and I believe I can create the format.
