Frozone212
scores first score can't be seen but it was around 20,000 or so Edited September 19, 2022 by Frozone212 sorry for the crappy screenshot
Frozone212
I think that's enough for today. this game really needs two joysticks like in the arcade. They did an Admirable job porting it to the NES but a standard controller is no substitute for a solid arcade joystick. I never had an NES advantage growing up but would've destroyed this game if i had one BITD

Frozone212
If I had a proper ps2 USB instead of the crappy third party knockoffs than i'd be fine
Frozone212
Akklaim did an admirable job with the port but it is way too easy to die I love it despite all this however. I just wish they had added a way to use twin joysticks like the arcade one for movement and one for fire. Anyone have any ideas on how to get this in Retroarch? Crazy Climber
537280 I only played a few games but I found practicing the controls in between stages (when you are prompted to pick a path) helped me get used to them.

asponge
692,710 I've played the arcade version a bit. I'm new to the NES port. Tried the two controller scheme tonight with two control pads. I like the idea, but it's very uncomfortable on the hands.

mbd39
I used the single controller setup with my PC gamepad. I'm glad this version is generous with extra lives because you need them.

Frozone212
no diagonal shooting. that's this game's only fault. I can shoot up, down left and right but not diagonal. Thus, I cannot get any higher scores. My congratulations to those that managed to pass me.
fakecortex
I had a dream that I had a 3rd party NES advantage laying around with some junk controllers, so I was able to play with two joysticks. I guess my subconscious is telling me to get playing already, hahaha.
asponge
1,989.890 I played with an NES Advantage in my left hand to move and a game pad in my right to shoot. No hand cramps this time. 5 hours ago, Frozone212 said: no diagonal shooting The game allows diagonal shooting. Frozone212
yeah i noticed. Mesen doesn't register it and retroarch refuses to fire. It goes on then off
Razzie.P
2,031,435 I've never played the NES version of this, only Arcade and SNES back in the 90's. I rented that one a LOT. I figured this one would kinda stank but I think they did an amazing job with it. Pretty disappointed though, that I won about a hundred VCRs and not one VHS copy of Roadhouse. 😬 Oh... and 2600" TV. 1

I can go diagonal but the moment i fire, the controls lock to the basic up left right and down. It's annoying Edited September 26, 2022 by Frozone212
Frozone212
diagonal up right and down right are not recognized in the emulator. Can't fire

fakecortex
Holy hand cramp batman. I tried every weird controller I had just for fun, and I think the winners right now are two dogbone controllers (softer d-pads). I really want to try two advantages tho. I wish the music wouldn’t cut out Got to Mutoid Man. Smash TV - 844,025
Asaki
1901365 Haven't played this one in a while, it's pretty impressive as far as SNES ports go. 18 hours ago, fakecortex said: Holy hand cramp batman. I was too lazy to drag out the NES, so I played with two Wiimotes...the d-pads are a little stiff, but it's not too bad. Not sure if I have a means of using sticks...two nunchucks might be alright, if you could rotate the controls in the emulator (I don't think you can). Two NES controllers totally reminded me of playing Wii! Haha. I could see two nunchucks being cool if it were possible.
