The 2004 Video Game Summit

 

For Immediate Release:

 

September 23, 2003

 

The Atari Video Club announces its tentative plans for the 2004 Video Game Summit.

The date is tentatively set for June 12th, 2004 (rain date: July 17th, 2004) from 9am to 6pm

at the same location we had had last year (Quality inn and Suites (Heron point building),

645 West North Ave, Lombard, IL 60148)

Our plans for this show will be geared toward to game players because we will have a game

room for players who wish to just bring there own systems for single and/or network game play.

Also our admission cost will be free to general public, and table cost will be $15.00 each.

I have set-up a simple form for registration at the VGS website to fill out

(this will entitle you to receive an E-vite (this will ask you about tables, # of people you bringing,

as well what items you are bringing, and type of tournament you like to see at the show)

Payments for tables are not set up yet but as soon as I get the date set I’ll let you know.

UPDATE Update: July 17th,2004, AVC presents the 2004 Video game summit.

I contacted the hotel today to set it up today they are faxing the contact to me some time this week.

The offical anouncemnet will be coming up next tuesday with full details

Until then you can got the VGS site and register your attendence and/or tables.

The 2004 Video Game Summit officially announced

 

For Immediate Release:

 

October 20th, 2003

 

The Atari Video Club/Jaguar Community United has announced plans for the 2004 Video Game Summit.

The date is date: July 17th, 2004 from 9am to 6pm at the same location we had had last year (Quality inn and Suites

(Heron point building), 645 West North Ave, Lombard, IL 60148)

depending on the type of admission (General admission: will ask you the following: will you attend, #of people

attending including you, type of tourneys you like to see and what supplies you like to bring (Extra items

are welcome incase we are short)

Exhibitor/Vendor (Tables): will ask you the same thing but it include the information on how to pay either

by mail or online ( a pay pal link is included in the e-vite))

Its normally for kid's parties, but the owner would probably be interested in renting it for a classic gaming show that will bring in customers. You get the advantage of on site food: hot dogs, pizza, soda etc and about 100 video games many for free and none more than 20 cents to play after a $2 admission at the door. It checked it out yesterday and the place is very clean and kept very nicely.

 

It might help draw more people to the event this year plus get some extra people just coming to play some games.

I could prob get the same type of deal at Safari land because they got a party rooms too plus food ,games and rides.

right now I'm happy with what I got for the show.

I might consider them for sponsor for the show though.

from 10am to 1pm(I'll be on longer though). The sunday chats have been going on for about 2 years ,I just figured to use the same time for VGS chat.

(the chats are now held on two days(this because my schedule

is a bit off on sundays (usally I'm off but it now varries)Sundays

Atari Video Club announces Spy Games tournament for VGS'04

 

For Immediate Release:

 

March 9, 2004

 

Atari Video Club/Jaguar Comunnity United is pleased to announce the following details

for Spy Games tourney. For those who don't know what Spy Games is here's the basics:

The tourney style will be known as Spy Games in which eight players will be chosen to

compete in games in order to add prizes to final prize package and one of the eight

players will be known as the Spy, a player who was chosen to make sure the prizes don’t

get added. (If this sounds familiar to you it should because I got the idea after watching

“Celebrity Mole” on ABC-TV (I also thought about doing something like this last year,

but never went through with it)) Also like the TV show, after each game a quiz will be

taken about each player to figure out who is the Spy, the player who scored low on the

quiz will be eliminated. Now here’s the twist, there will be no exemptions, so everybody

is a risk, plus at the end of tourney The Spy will get a chance to win the prize package

when the Spy will play against the player who figured out who is the Spy. Also visitors to

the show will be able to guess who is the Spy (hint’s will be hidden the program, plus

they will be able to watch the players as well).

Now For the details on how to enter a chance to take part in Spy Games:

You entry is based on your high score of one of the games listed below.

2600: Star Wars: Death Star Battle

5200: Defender

7800:Xevious

Lynx:Remmant

Jaguar: Protector(it can be Regular or Special Edition version)

(You must be able to attend the The 2004 Video Game Summit to enter)

submit you scores as often as you like(the higher the score the

better your chances)

you must play the game you have chosen(you Can Not change the game)

Submit you scores by e-mailing me using the subject "Spy Games" or

online at the Atari Bowl page(formerly the Atari Mania page) at

AVC online(a button to the Atari Bowl page is at the VGS registration

on the information form) Your score will be listed on the Atari bowl stnadings

(but it will not effect Atari bowl ratings)

the top eight scores will be notified when contest is over,

June 30th,2004 is the final day of entry.

The 2004 Video game summit is coming up fast now(as of this writting 3 month and counting)

Just wondering who will be coming this year?

(a quick heads up notice: while the show is still at the same location

it under a different name and hotel brand. it's now called the Fairfiled inn and suites hotel and it's under the marriot hotel brand now(everything still set I called them up last week to check it out(when I got contract it was for the quality inn and suites hotel(a choice hotel brand), then they dropped the hotel chain at the start of the year, and they changed it to lombard inn and suites, then I found out they changed to what they are now )
