5200 HSC Season 16 Round 11 - Astrochase

Welcome to the eleventh and final round of the 16th 5200 HSC season. AstroChase tied with Missile Command in the poll, but won the coin flip.  Play using the default settings.  Emulation is fine, as are custom controls. Pics preferred, but not required except for HSC wins and records.

 

The high score was set by yours truly with a score of 214,872 points.  Beat this if you can for a bonus point!

I was disappointed with my score, but then I saw "THE EARTH HAS BEEN DESTROYED!" and I figured eh first world problems.

 

I like this game, but every time it rolls around I just wait until the last minute!  I'm sure there' some bonus or score management that I need to learn, but I always say 'next time.'

 

Welp, next time I will do it right for sure!

the 5200 and other Atari 8bits could really bring it when developers understood the hardware well enough; considering it was a 70s. home computer, that platform was insanely good all through the 80s

 

if the 7800 had a decent sound chip in it, I would probably plug mine in more often.  graphics are definitely better than anything of its time (eat it, NES), those VCS boop-fart soundtracks tho...

Excellent choices!  I’ll get them in the first poll at the start of the year.
