I’m still lost as to who said to buy something from Germany.  🤪

You and me both. I just assumed something must have been commented on, then edited or deleted before I ever even read through the thread. At least I'm not alone or completely crazy.

Looking at it again, I think it's likely that @Stefan Both is from Germany and just meant that it didn't make since for him to recommend anyone since those are who he's used to dealing with and he saw that the OP was from CT. My first read through that went completely over my head.

Ahh, well if Stefan is from Germany and said "...for me to recommend..."  then it all makes sense.  🧐

Yes. Stefan is from germany.

Sorry confusing you both.

I know 2 dealers (personally).

One is specialised in components for Oldie Computers. (Mainly Commodore I have to admit) The web adress is

https://restore-store.de/ . He is a fellow one can trust and is heavily related with the "Forum64.de - Community" If something is not on his Website,  just write him and ask.

Most of the RAM chips used in Atari Computers are also used in Commodore ones.

The other fellow is the owner of

Funduino.de. https://funduinoshop.com/

(Arduino-Clones) Just look at the site and compare the prices...Also very trustworthy and fast with delivery.

But... If you're living "overseas", it makes no sense financially. And I'm sure, you have enough dealer available domestic...

Stefan

Yup, for dealers, modders etc I'd say it's a must, saves time and PM's etc.

For ordinary folk it's ok to say your location is the Gorfian Galaxy on the edge of space, but as a seller that suggests the shipping fee's are gonna be huge :)

Yeah, there's certainly no reason for us ordinary citizens to have ours listed, but I know I like to get an idea where everyone is from, so I figured there are others that feel the same and I've had mine listed for a while. Everyone has there own tastes and opinions on safety, security, and privacy too, so to each their own. I figure Evansville is a big enough town and I'm not known well enough or far enough that anyone that were so inclined would have a hard time finding me based on that and nothing more. I'm probably kidding myself though. With all the public records out there, a name and five minutes of Googling would probably turn up any and everything about me for the past two decades!

I've pretty much always listed my rough details, when I moderated a usenet PSX group I was threatened by a pirate, he said he knew where I lived was going to "give me a kicking". Needless to say I remained un-kicked, years later the same guy apologised to me when we ran in to each other on a different forum. I've always been a big old lump but as I get on I do worry a little re all this, but then I think about the number of folks just stabbed for walking down the street, and then my partial details on an old Atari forum seem so unimportant.

But yeah, it's nice to know who is local, makes it feel more like a club, but I've got so many friends all over the world thanks to places like here, so it's all good.

Of course you are indirectly increasing someone else's risk of harm. Someone else in the community may be targeted by accident if the pirate thought that it was you.

Just yesterday, I heard about a random person who was beaten-up and threatened with a gun because he was mistaken for someone who owned money to a criminal group.  Once the mistake was realised, the criminals apologized, but still... Buddy just happened to hang-out at the same bar as the person that they were looking for.

I'm sorry, but there are people around here who stab people for often zero reason. The problem isn't that I'm increasing anyone's risk to their life, but that there's people who would actually do this insane stuff in the first place.

Blaming the possible victim is just wrong, sorry, don't agree with your thinking.

What next, blaming firefighters and ambulance staff who often face violent behaviour for zero reason other than daring to turn up at an incident? As if they are the trigger? Nope, it's the nut jobs that just attack people for no reason other than they can.

Just buy 256 x1 chips.  The are usually cheaper than the 64Kx1

This makes sense for the 16 DRAM chip 130XE certainly. 41256 are pin compatible to the 4164. Just ignore the pin 1 (A8) unless you are doing memory upgrades.

Looks like your second 130XE is full of Micron Technologies RAM.  I just repaired an 800XL this weekend that was populated with those.  I just replaced all eight of them with dual wipe sockets and replaced all eight chips.  The computer had something written on the bottom by the previous owner that it failed the RAM test.  It also had a date written on it of April 1979, however since the XL didn't come out until 1983, I'm thinking that more than likely they meant 1989.  Since I probably picked this up thrifting in the early 90's that make more sense.  But be careful removing the RAM on that 130XE the PCBs are not as good as the XL line.   When I repair them I usually clip the leads on the bad part and remove the legs one at a time.
