Relationship between #FujiNet and #Meatloaf

Recommended Posts

People have asked about the relationship between #FujiNet and #MeatLoaf:

#FujiNet is helping contribute code and hardware to #MeatLoaf.
#MeatLoaf is helping contribute code and hardware to #FuijNet.

(in fact, @mozzwald of #FujiNet designed the latest hardware for #Meatloaf)

We are two groups of people on the same general path, but doing different approaches to get there, and sharing our experiences along the way.

In one way, you can think of #MeatLoaf and #FuijNet converging towards a shared standard. This is a great thing, because we will be able to have a huge intersection of things we can do together. #retrocomputing #commodore #c64

If there's one thing that the last 30 years have made clear: at a fundamental level, being able to agree on network protocols and how to implement them is as important as the hardware that they leverage - at least, as far as data sharing is concerned.

It's also shown us that the great thing about standards is that they can all be implemented in whatever way may be required on a whim ;)

Hello Thom

What exactly is Meatloaf, other than a singer and a dish?

Sincerely

Mathy

Meatloaf is a device emulator that was started roughly the same time as FujiNet, for the Commodore systems: https://meatloaf.cc/

Meatloaf has since taken on a good chunk of FujiNet code, and code from Meatloaf is making its way over into FujiNet (such as a new filesystem access layer.)
