Receipt mystery

Right. Someone placed it inside the box .. but I'm not entirely sure this is the actual copy that was purchased.  Not sure how a sticker price of $24.99 would get to $22.36 - you do see too many 12% discount sales.

Just odd. Awesome to have the receipt though.  I've got a few but I believe this is the oldest.

Anyone have an Adventure with a Zayre sticker price of $22.36? I'd be interested in a trade!

Pretty cool piece of history there. Zayre and Venture were definitely two independent store chains - meaning they didn't share the same parent company.

Original owner may have purchased more than one for birthday gifts for rival siblings, Venture only had one left and had to go across the street to Zayre to purchase the second.  In the end, that reciept ended up in that box.  Far fetched?  Sure, but I could see it happening.  Where I lived growing up, most Zayre had a competing Venture literally across the street.  Similar to nowadays Walmart and Target.

I get a kick out of when I came across a boxed 2600 game with price stickers from Walmart, Venture or Target. Living in Chicagoland area, we didn't get either one till a year or two in the NES lifespan.

Fun fact, Zayre's parent company, Zayre corp, sold their stores to Ames in 1988 then Zayre Corp merged with TJ Maxx's parent company in 1989, and obviously TJ Maxx still exists to this day.

I was born in 1992 so I don't really know how I know that 😁
