SonicExplorer
Complete Apple IIe system for sale, rare find in excellent condition (minus one issue, see below). House kept, no smoke, original owner, minimal usage. Tested working, OS boots up fine, with one exception - the keyboard does not respond. I have tested the keyboard and all continuity appears fine, the issue is likely a chip on the motherboard. Could be as simple as re-seating a chip but I simply don't have the time or desire to get into troubleshooting with an O-Scope and/or making a repair. PM for further discussion if interested, thanks. ianoid
I love to see Apple II stuff for sale here. The common issue with keyboard not working (assuming it's plugged in to the board) is the keyboard encoder chip. Look up what they cost or how much a replica chip costs since they are nearly proprietary. I think technically the //e chip was off the shelf, but barely anything else used them. They aren't Commodore chip expensive, but they usually run a few dozen bucks.
+evg2000
@ianoid There is actually a whole thread where he was trying to fix it, but couldn't.
SonicExplorer
Yeah, tried the basics. It's not the keyboard, continuity checked that thoroughly. It's almost surely just a chip. But I didn't want to risk randomly re-seating a lot of chips and I also don't have any spares to swap if it turned out to be a 'bad' chip. So the only other alternative at my disposal is to narrow down with an O-scope, which is getting into more of a project than I care to take on.
