rdefabri
In response to the other found game thread (Holster by Aim Software), I have found another “lost” Aim Software title - Ambulance. I noticed this was on a list of lost / unconfirmed Atari games, but I remembered I had this one right away. I have the box and instructions, as well as the cassette (see pics below). The box has seen better days but the cassette is in great shape. I don’t know how to convert this to .atr or .cas, so if anyone can guide me that would be appreciated. I have a trove of Atari memorabilia, and I love to help out where I can! Edited March 20, 2023 by rdefabri 10

Many thanks, really hope you can recover that one! A tape dump / scans for Battle Warp would be fantastic as well. LostMediaWiki just took the Aim Software list from our site and added some verbiage, all the titles from this company do exist. For anything lost, please refer to this document, I usually update it on a monthly basis: https://forums.atariage.com/topic/316497-atarimania-news-updates/?do=findComment&comment=5218433 Edited March 20, 2023 by www.atarimania.com
Rybags
It's just a CLOAD Basic program. You might be able to just save it to an emulated disk device if it doesn't load data once you run it. Or at least, boot Dos first then save it to a disk and send to someone who can upload it.

I'm hoping to do this without firing up my Atari computer - it hasn't been started in a while, so I'm wary about going that route. I'm going to try to upload as a .wav and convert to .cas. Not sure how "easy" that process is, but I guess I'll learn something from it!!
Rybags
That approach would be fairly easy - though a WAV has potential to be pretty big, though you'd probably get away with mono at 8-bit resolution.

rdefabri
Ok - here is the .wav file. It may need some light editing at the beginning, not sure. Recorded the leader all the way through the end to ensure I got the carrier signal. I can't convert ro .cas - having a hard time figuring that out. Can someone convert and let me know if this worked? If not, I'll try to record again, but I think the levels were good and this should hopefully be ok. The file was inserted as an audio file, but you can right click and save as a .wav. ambulance.wav Edited March 21, 2023 by rdefabri
rra
I tried loading the .wav file into Altirra, and it is really slow to load even with c device acceleration turned on. I tried converting it to a .cas file using a8cas-convert.exe and it seems to work until the very end (see attached pic). Looking at the wave file in Audacity, it looks like the ending ends fairly abruptly. The file "sounds" like a typical Atari 8bit cassette in Audacity. Maybe someone else can take a look. ambulance.cas Edited March 21, 2023 by rra

Atarigrub
A perfect clean recording in my opinion! 🙂👍 The final data block is complete and comprised of zero byte data and isn't actually loaded, which is actually quite normal. @rra the issue you see in the conversion window is the a8cas software trying to interpret the noise after the final data block, but as there isn't any more data then it reports "failed". @rdefabri Its still worth doing a recording of the second side, as for https://www.a8preservation.com/ we compare the data between the two sides. Let me know if you are happy for us to include your scans, wav and cas to the Atari Preservation. Please find attached a cleaned-up CAS file, after removing fsk noise. +x=usr(1536)
I realise that a working .cas file has been created from the .wav file @rdefabri attached to this post, but just confirming that I was able to successfully convert it to .cas format using a8cas-convert 1.3.1 on macOS. No level, header, etc. adjustments were necessary. The errors that @rra observed at the end of transcoding were also present in the copy that I generated, but did not seem to affect loading from a FujiNet on a 600XL with 64K of RAM installed internally. And yes, I did see @Atarigrub's comment re: post-EOF noise being interpreted as data
rdefabri
As a side note - what are the commands you need to do the .wav conversion to .cas in a8cas-convert? I could have executed that, but the documentation on the steps wasn't clear to me.

+x=usr(1536)
Just now, rdefabri said: I'll try to do it myself when I convert side 2 of Ambulance and Battle Warp! Thanks! No worries In general, as long as you can get a reasonably-clean .wav capture at an appropriate audio level, you shouldn't need to tweak any of a8cas-convert's options when you do the conversion. Granted, that assumes that the source tape and player were in good condition, it's not a speedloader title, etc., but 99.9% of the time you should be good to go.
