A nice 1050 with i.s plate

@mistapaul   I've just literally bought a 1050 with what I think is the I.S Plate installed. Hopefully will arrive next week and this will be the case.

 

I am very intrigued and couldn't resist it.

I did. Seller is listing several here in the UK. Some labeled I.s.p, some duplicator, and also archiver. I went for the I. S. P assuming this meant I. S. Plate. 

 

I already have a US doubler enhanced 1050 but am likely going to sell that if this proves to work and has a wider more comprehensive set of functions as I believe it is supposed to have.

Cool. Yours was sold untested then too?  Worth a shot as postage is included.

Sold as seen, opened it up and cleaned it with IPA, dust everywhere! But works,.just squeaks ,so a good grease up is needed...

no, just downloaded a few files until i found the right one, i'll put it up here, only issue is the flashing green led for writing to disk...

WHAT DOES IT DO?

In summary the main features of the ISP are:

Provides an intelligent disk controller and buffer.

Reads a track at a time from disk, speeding access and reducing drive wear.

Gives single, dual and true double density (with suitable DOS).
Fast read and write.
Archiver and ISD emulation (with appropriate software).
Standard 1050 emulation makes Plate invisible to commercial software.

Not had time over the last couple of days. It arrived with serious issues unfortunately. (Seems you got the good one heh heh )

 

Had some advice on the thread I'd started here:

 

... so might try following that. Ideally I didn't really want to swap mechanisms over between my working drives and this one but looks like it's the only way I'll be able to ascertain the issue. 

 

@Larry  Gremlin grabber... like you say must be their own bespoke copy software.
