Rainbow Buster

My meager attempt at a game. A variation on the old Atari classic.

I posted it in Camel Forth for the code curious, but here is the proper place for a game.

Somebody might find it amusing. For me it's harder to play than I thought it would be but I suck at these things.

Needs the E/A Cartridge, disk, Expansion memory and Joystick or joystick emulation.

Place both files on your preferred disk.

To start select E/A menu option 5

Program is:   DSKx.BREAKOUT    (don't tell anybody) ;-)

There is a "feature" (wink wink) that lets the ball drift above the rainbow un-expectedly and it might descend the same way.

If any users would like changes let me know. I still have a little hair left on my head to pull out. :)

Edit May 12,  Ver 3

Newest versions will be posted here:

Changes

1. Better ball ricochet Ball. Ball does not get trapped in my test.

2. Restart bug did not re-occur.

I've converted it in cart format for the FG99, etc.

One suggestion: is it possible at the end of the game to just press fire, instead of having to type "GO" for a new game? If you play it on the couch with a big TV it's not easy... ;-)

Another good suggestion.  That's doable to.

Thanks.

Requested changes are made.  Updates are posted in first post of this thread.

@Asmusr  was right on with the paddle speed. It's much better now. I was moving 3 pixels per loop, now it's 2.

Thanks. The update cart is in attachment. Is it normal that sometime, after just hitting a block in the first lower row, the ball jumps to the top of the screen?

Not getting any response after title screen.  What am I doing wrong?

The game only reads the joystick at the moment.

In Classic99 press tab for fire and use arrow keys for left and right movement.

Very cool. Thanks.

Well ,,, once upon a time there was a bug and the bug made life interesting so its life was spared.

It was renamed  "feature" :)

If people really hate it I am sure there is a can of Raid around here somewhere.

It can be disconcerting. Perhaps eradicating that "feature" would be best...

New version (3) at top of this thread.

I have taken the appropriate action and removed the special "feature".

In exchange I added a 3 level skill menu.

I can win at beginner level, but beyond that I am toast.

I have tried the game and I like. I also like to play this thinking you developed in forth and we haven't so much games developed in that language :)

There are two things I would want bumb.

Anyway I have tested it only on Classic99 an no others and no real machine.

Once finished the level, pressing FIRE it don't start again?
someone other had the same problem?

another situation it happens that the ball gets stuck between the lines that make up the racket, and it also happens that it gets into it by passing through it--is this intentional just as a "feature"?

ops, I am sorry, that was not the word I wanted to write, but the autocorrect did the rest :p now I can no longer use the EDIT function to correct but I hope, however, that you still understood what I meant. :P

Yes I saw the ball sticking in the paddle as a something you could learn to use but I can reduce the tendency I think.

I didn't see the restart problem until after posting. Sorry about that.

This is fantastic feedback for me to correct these problems.

Thanks
