Dantaipan
I just added a small amp and speakers to my desktop setup to work with c0pperdragon’s RGBTOHDMI adapter. Wondering if any games come to mind that have standout audio.
Nezgar
Rescue on Fractalus (turn up the bass 😁) .. And the engine takeoff uses a pokey 16-bit pitch register for the very smooth high-pitched increasing whine.

Bunny Hop Binary parasite Not games as such but well worth checking out: Rewind demo (and of course the GTIA Doom segment of the demo - Miker's great music) Alley dog demo - great music by String at the end
invisible kid
Mainly the intros. Chicken! Slime. Necromancer. Quasimodo. Drunk Chessboard. Prince of Persia. Edited September 8, 2023 by invisible kid
rdefabri
Depends on what you are looking for - great music? Great sound effects in general? I'd say anything by Bill Williams is a must (Salmon Run, Alley Cat, Necromancer). I personally love games that talk, so the Berzerk proto, Space Taxi, etc.

+scorpio_ny
Off the top of my head, The Last Squadron. One my favorite shoot ‘em ups.
13matt
Necromancer was always my favourite with regards sound. The effects were on a par with Williams arcade machines, punchy and expressive. The nicest music I've heard in a game is probably Plastron, but I have always has a soft spot for Seven Cites of Gold too.
hatman72
The Extirpator! has a banging theme tune - it's just a pity the game's not up to much! 😆 Edited September 8, 2023 by hatman72 spelling
deffroe
Plastron has a good tune. http://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-400-800-xl-xe-plastron_4002.html

Dantaipan
Thanks, I'm going through and adding all to my Side3 favourites if they weren't already there. And well @kheller2; Gyruss... that is a given but I appreciate someone ensuring it made the list.
invisible kid
I've already added one non-game, here's another if that's okay, a demo called Nemesis: Edited September 8, 2023 by invisible kid
xrbrevin
as a kid i had several disks of just music tracks. they would boot to a menu of tv themes, modern music (of the day) and classical ones. they were heavily pokey-orientated (very Atari-like) but alas ive not managed to find anything like them in recent years. if anyone knows of such a resource, i'd be v.grateful 🙃

You may listen to a few A8 game and demo sounds in MP3 format here, if you want: Games: http://ftp.pigwa.net/stuff/collections/CharlieChaplin/SNDVID/Atari Game Sounds/ Demos: http://ftp.pigwa.net/stuff/collections/CharlieChaplin/SNDVID/Atari Demo Sounds/ and then add the favourite game and demo sounds to your SIDE3... +CharlieChaplin
There are also many A8 sound demos or better demos that do have sound collections from various A8 games, e.g. Music Kaleidoscope, Atari Game Music, CMC Party, Music show and many others...
