Booterror1973
I got today the Video breakboard that I ordered from Lotharek. Sadly I don’t see and can find instructions how to attach it on my Atari 800xl Does anyone know how to do it? xrbrevin
i think youre supposed to connect it to the monitor port via a 5-pin DIN, then you can choose between composite or s-video. audio has also been separated out to give you more connectivity options
Beeblebrox
yup - it's not internal. You get a cable with the board which connects the A8's Din5 with the board's. So you can either 3D print a housing for it, or it sits loose next to the computer. https://lotharek.pl/productdetail.php?id=347 No instructions are available also. When I got mine from UK reseller Retrolemon.co.uk - (which, incidentally, I've never used as bought ages ago and since learned of other internal ways to upgrade video, etc) - it was sold with a Din5 male to Din5 male cable. I just dug it out to snap a pic: You should easily be able to source such a cable Edit: https://cpc.farnell.com/pro-signal/psg00912/lead-5-pin-din-plug-to-plug-1/dp/AV14599?mckv=st5hAHibm_dc|pcrid|491098866158|kword||match||plid||slid||product|AV14599|pgrid|100371159038|ptaid|pla-940031080761|&CMP=KNC-GUK-CPC-SHOPPING-9262013734-100371159038-AV14599&s_kwcid=AL!5616!3!491098866158!!!network}!940031080761!&gclid=Cj0KCQiA3uGqBhDdARIsAFeJ5r3jmAvvtxzQIr2fdQ2WpzCBNoTLJ3KRzPBYvb19XM6GiLAgzzUWwLMaAvrbEALw_wcB Edited November 18, 2023 by Beeblebrox
xrbrevin
having to buy a cable defeats the object - you might as well buy the right cable and not use a breakout board at all!..
manterola
I guess any midi cable should work...right?
Peri Noid
Yes, that's correct. Just notice, that there will be no S-Video on an 800XL unless it's modified (a computer).

If it's an 800xlf then it's all good, but for stock 800xl machines you'll need to hook up chroma for svideo colour.

Bought today the midi cable at a musical instruments store nearby and it’s working good. Nice clear image.
