It is easy to update the wiki page. If no one dies it by tomorrow I will do an edit as I have wiki editor account when I am at my desktop, currently I am laying resting and hard to do a full edit on my phone.

@ballHow does your command line look like which you use to start up MAME?

I just copy and pasted Golden's line:

-ioport peb -ioport:peb:slot2 32kmem

I have used other ti99 options without error, although never got speech to work.

First, DON'T use the TI-99/4, unless you really want to use the unfortunate predecessor of our actual machine.

Second, if this is the kind of output you got, there seems to be some line break character behind 32kmem. Try it again by typing, not pasting.

This command line works for me:

./mame ti99_4a -ioport peb -ioport:peb:slot2 32kmem  -ioport:peb:slot3 speech  alpiner

Thanks, the last two posts combined fixed the problem. The emulator picks the first machine on the list instead of the TI-99/4A. Maybe I can disable TI-99/4 by deleting a rom file? In any case I can manually set the machine and with "-ioport peb -ioport:peb:slot2 32kmem  -ioport:peb:slot3 speech" I got speech to work for the first time.
