Cody2000
@Ben from Plaion so i have a question for you sir i came across while browsing this thread a file called AtariDumper1.1.0.4 or something like that so i grabbed it to throw in my growing folder of 2600+ firmwares and files what exactly is the benefit if any of updating this? i would've thought that in order to update entirely you would need more than just the dumper software and would need the update.img file and other stuff aswell is this not the case and just for small fixes all we need is the ataridumper? The bell disappears the kangaroo disappears it’s not normal. I understand what your saying with flickering sprites. I’m going back to 1.0 to see if there’s a difference. I’ll let you know.

In your video when the sprites disappear is the same time in my game that those sprites start flickering.

AtariYMás009
The disappearing sprites issue sounds like wrong framerate for me. Maybe 24 or so, instead of 60 for NTSC or 50 for PAL
Thomas Jentzsch
If sprites disappear like this, then there are a least two issues: the phosphor effect is not enabled either the 2600+ skips every 2nd frame or the TV does

Unlikely. edit: I write this cause I have asked around. Nothing came back positive. Someone did reach out to me but it was a friend of a friend that might be able to help. I'll write to him. Some carts are made to work with a simple dumper fix, some require the mainboard IMG to be updated aswell.

Have you got another TV in the house you can check it with?

Hi Ben, Yes I just tried it on a fourth tv still the same results. Not sure if you saw my earlier post there’s no issue with my original hardware or the Retron 77 on any of these tvs it’s just the 2600+ for some reason.
MrChickenz
I even tried a different usb brick. The one I was using was new but I thought maybe it’s faulty. Edited January 17 by MrChickenz

But then, the CPU requirements for a normal game are much lower than for an ARM game. If normal games are already running too slow, then ARM games would suffer even more. However, the 2600+ CPU can be compared with the one in the R77. And there we got the ARM games running at full speed. So something in the build process or configuration is currently fundamentally wrong. Edited January 17 by Thomas Jentzsch

It is most likely that it is an FPS configuration that presents retroarch, possibly at about 24 or something like that, or it is even possible that has some type of active frameskiping, hence the jittery movement

+karri
Just a small sidenote. When I started to overclock my DYI flash cart Otaku for emulating larger carts the power from the 2600+ cart connector did not provide enough current. The power consumption rises a lot when overclocking the Pico from 133MHz to 400MHz. That is not a real problem for me as I can feed extra power from my powerbank. I wonder if some of the special carts with extra chips could be problematic if they try to power ARM processors, extra RAM, extra ROM and extra sound chips on the cart. Just something to think about in case you have strange behaviour in your tests.
