Oh hey, I'm not dead! 😅

It seems like the older I get the busier the summers get and the less and less time I have to play games, but I have still been logging my playtime over the past couple months and finally finished up Resident Evil: Director's Cut tonight so I figured it was a good time to share all my play times from the past two months!

Maybe I'll have more time for gaming as the autumn rolls around? Or maybe I should just start actually carrying this darn thing in my pocket more often!

Whether it is resident or temporary remains to be seen, but Resident Evil: Director's Cut is 14 minutes ahead of Little Known Galaxy, while Kaboom! takes the pre-NES title as the only game in that category with triple digit number of minutes. In terms of systems, the modern PC is just ahead of the slightly less modern PlayStation.

No changes to the 1000, 5000, 10000 Minute Clubs. I realize I forgot to post some mid-season stats before, but will hopefully be able to compensate in the near future.

Here are my times for this past week (August 19th through 25th, 2024):

Sorry, I didn't play anything at all this week. It was my first full work week after the summer break, and in addition to that, it's hot outside again, so I went swimming yesterday and today, and I'm still at moving things from my old flat to my new flat. And I have to make haste there because on Wednesday morning, August 28th, the electrician will come to perform a fault fixing in my old flat, which means they have to tear up the walls and install new cables, and for this the furniture should be removed from the walls and shifted to the center of the rooms. Also this is a very dusty process, so I should cover the furniture with a foil. And I try to remove as many things as possible from there before the electrician comes so the things don't get dusty and don't prevent the furniture from being moved.

Aug 19-25: Tried to make some progress on a couple of the Pico-8 games I am writing. I always hit a programing writers block, and star playing some mindless video games to take my mind off being stuck. (Screenshot not from my particular games)

Android

RB College - 21 min: really have to finish up my 2nd no-star players season. Been loosing more games than I have been winning. Once the seasons over though, I am going to recruit a good kicker, obtain the few remaining achievements, and then quit RB College for good. (maybe play some regular RB for a few dozen seasons)

PC Modern

Slay the Spire - 75 min - Think I got this free with Prime gaming. I can see why it is still popular on Twitch/Steam/etc. It's a very fine deck-builder rogue-like.Still have lots to unlock in the game.

Ironcast - 400 min - Another free Prime game, and a variation of the match-3 games. Have only made it past the first boss, but have died multiple times. As you play, you unlock permanent bonuses, making future runs easier. Not a bad match-3 game, I haven't really found one I like much for Android/iOS.l (last one i liked was Marvel Puzzle Queat, but it seemed to have annoying timers/pay-to-win missions that made progress after the early levels difficult)

Ok, quite the week for classic gaming for me.  It started with getting Atari paddles to work with my Xbox through the adaptive controller.  I tried to get the driving controller to work too (it didn't), but that resulted in me playing a bunch of driving controller homebrews and hacks on my original hardware.  PLUS, I kept playing Ghostbusters variations PLUS, I beat Mr. Run and Jump!

5 hours ago, Atarian7 said:

Congratulations.    I don't know anything about this game.  Is it very hard?

It seems hard at first, but like every classic game, once you do some analysis it gets quite a bit easier.  I will write a little review blurb either today or later this week to say more, but the basic gameplay is more like a current-gen indy platformer than an Atari 2600 game.  Now that I have finished it, I appreciate that it is different than a lot of games in the library, but it was quite frustrating to play at first.

The game is on a deep discount right now at Woot - Mr. Run and Jump (woot.com)
